Yes, fancy rats do not like that darn simple rat food they sell in pet stores. When you buy a fancy rat they have dined, most of their lives, on a kind of maple bar. It is brownish, a square or rectangle and hard and solid. If you think it looks unappetizing, that is because it IS! It has taken me years of experimentation, and much wasted money on food they refused to eat, to discover what they do like.

Now, you must remove the red peppers! These peppers are put into the food for parrots, to aid in digestion. However, in rats they can cause severe bleeding! They have an anticoagulant effect in rats, leaving them bleeding from their eyes, ears and mouth. You simply must check the entire package prior to feeding your rat.

Alexander is very grateful to you, you know who you are… J So, there is no more scrounging around in the bottom of a mostly empty bag of food, and this week Alexander had all of the tidbits and treats he so much enjoys. This Sunday… well, I managed to capture it… You will have to look very close… but I got some footage of Alexander… cleaning his paws on my sheets!
