Personal Update and Technical Problems January 22nd, 2014

Dear Family, Friends and Followers of @ The Other Shoe,

It has come to my attention that my primary blog location for The Other Shoe is down, today. I have made a report of this problem, however, any publications today will only appear at my word press location (www.theothersshoe.wordpress.com)

.

I look forward to publishing, today… although I might just take today to get caught up writing ‘The Adventures of Princess Nadia’ until both blog locations are fully functioning. My Dear Readers, I made a video today… of an empty freezer and refrigerator. I have taken my last few dollars to pay down on my phone bill. I simply must have a cell phone to travel to and from my doctor’s appointment on the 4th of February.

.

Once that appointment is over I am, hopefully, going to move my cell service (and number, I hope) to another cheaper cellular provider. I continue to do everything I can to keep ahead of the wolves, keep writing and publishing, keep a sharp eye pealed for business opportunities, work and keeping my relationship level and stable, manage my pain to the best of my ability, and do the least amount of complaining I can manage.

.

I do not waste money by purchasing; fast food, video games, DVDs or anything others might consider frivolous. I am frugal as can be, and genuinely dislike asking for help or assistance from anyone. However, being without food is bad for my health.

.

I will work with the technical support @ blog.com and see if I can get my primary blog location up and running, today. I am looking forward to sharing my views of the many problems that currently plague New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. I am working to make that article happen as soon as possible, and look forward to publishing soon.

.

Thank you for all your kindness, visits, Likes, Shares and support through these troubling times. You, My Dear Readers, are vital to me.

.

Thank you!

P.S. For anyone that desires to extend some assistance, for food. Contributions can be made directly via PayPal to enzomatrix@earthlink.net Daniel Hanning. Any and all contributions and/or support is greatly apprecaited and will go towards food alone. Thank you for your kindness and support.

Post-Christmas Pre-New Year’s Danny Update

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. First, I would like to express my hopes that each and every one of you, My Dear Readers, had a wonderful Christmas. That your Christmas was spent with; family, friends and loved ones whom you enjoy spending time with the most. That you ate as much, if not more, than you wanted and that it was good. That it left you full not only physically but spiritually and emotionally full, as well. Second, I hope that all of you gave and received presents that brought happiness, and gave you happiness.

.

I feel, and this is my humble opinion, that a lot, today, is made of what is ‘missing’ from Christmas. The desire to “put Christ back in Christmas” and that somehow the materialism of Christmas is all bad’. You might not know this but, a majority of America retail corporations go from red ink to black ink, during this holiday season. That is to say that Holiday sales are where these American retail corporations become profitable. These American corporations greatly depend on holiday sales. As well, when holiday sales are down that is bad for the G.D.P. (Gross Domestic Product) of this nation.

.

Don’t get me wrong I am in no way advocating for people or you, My Dear Readers, to go out and ‘max out’ your credit card(s) or worse overextend yourself during the holiday season. I am just saying that materialism is good for our nation’s retailers and that (truly) the giving and receiving of presents (at this holiday season) is an expression of the love so important to Christmas. Even I, with my greatly limited the financial means, spent money this holiday season.

.

Allen received a whole new outfit of clothes, two packages of underwear, a package of socks, and various kinds of chocolates and sweets. Unlike many Christmas past, my portrayal of ‘Mr. Christmas’ did not happen. I was unable to go out, behind Allen’s back, and purchase Christmas presents for him.

.

There was no awakening, on Christmas morning, to Allen finding presents under the tree that were not there when he went to bed Christmas Eve. Further, I did not receive any Christmas presents at all. Allen having clothing for his new job took priority to me receiving any presents. I knew this to be the case, more than a month ago. I feel that some of the depression I have felt… I tired my best to find ways to finance a better Christmas. I failed.

.

Thanks to the generosity of one of My Dear Readers, a benefactor in England, Allen and I enjoyed a very nice Christmas Dinner. If you have me as a friend on Facebook, check out my Photos, and you will see several photos I took of our Christmas Turkey, Green bean casserole, and my famous Garden/Herb Stuffing. Ian’s generosity was pivotal to our Christmas Dinner. I am forever in his debt.

.

I did also purchase a black ink cartridge for my printer. I needed this cartridge so that I could print up a Demand Letter. This letter is going to the gentleman that stole $300 from me in October of this year. For those of you that are just beginning to read my blog? I will explain this, briefly.

.

In October of this year I was in the process of moving out of the apartment I had been in for the past decade. My caregiver and roommate of the past 26 years, Allen, was out of town on family business. I did not know when he would return so I was using Craigslist to help me find someplace new to live. After speaking with 8 to 10 people, over a period of three weeks. I ran across a gentleman by the name of Lawrence. Lawrence and I corresponded several times via email, culminating in us setting up an appointment for me to meet him in his home.

.

I met Lawrence and his home, looked at the room that was available, discussed my disability and that Allen was my caregiver and would be moving in, eventually. The gentleman, Lawrence, understood all these things and made it clear that if I wanted to move in I needed to leave him with the deposit on the room before I left that day. Quite luckily I only had $300 of the $400 he was asking for deposit. I left him with a $300 and got a handwritten receipt from Lawrence. Roughly 60 hours later I found out Allen was going to be back much sooner than I thought. In fact he was going to be back in time to move in to the new apartment the day I moved in.

.

I immediately contacted Lawrence and let him know that Allen would be moving in as well and asked him if this was a problem. Lawrence immediately indicated, without hesitation, that it was not a problem that everything would work out. As well, expressing that in the worst case scenario Allen would rent another room he had available in the same house, at a much reduced rate. Later that evening Lawrence called me up on the phone to tell me that he had changed his mind and “feel you have harmed us both… Therefore I am keeping your entire deposit”.

.

That is correct, without ever moving in, without due consideration, and without any legal reason to do so; Lawrence stole $300 from me when I needed the most. His action nearly resulted in me ending up homeless. I have corresponded with him, one sided, since October. After contacting the Civil Court system, here in Orange County, I was instructed to send a ‘Letter of Demand’ and on the 2nd January, if Laurence does not repay the deposit money, I will be forced to take him to court and sue him.

.

$300 is a lot of money to me, My Dear Readers, is nearly 1/3 of all the money I get to live on every single month. Quite frankly if he had returned that money I would never have needed Ian’s generosity, and I might’ve actually got at least one Christmas present this year… for myself! I am hoping to put together, and published, this coming week a ‘Year in Review’ for this blog.

.

However, there is a bit of a problem. Starting Wednesday evening of this week I begin to experience a new type of pain in my left hand. Shortly before sitting down to have Christmas dinner I noticed that my left hand was quite swollen, and red at the knuckles. As the evening wore on my knuckles began to pop repeatedly and there was a feeling like someone had poured hot sand in my knuckles. Searching on Google, Web M.D., and other online sources I think that I have developed arthritis in my left-hand. I have greatly decreased use in my left hand, shooting pains in my left hand. This has resulted in me using my left hand very little. From what I’ve read the fact that I don’t use my left hand and that it sits, most of the time, beside me in my lap has led to arthritis developing in the hand. I don’t really have much feeling in my left hand I’ve burned it stuck it with sharp objects, all accidentally of course, and felt very little. However, this pain is in the bones and in the joints and is carried in a different nerve velocity… Regardless of all the medical mumbo-jumbo this pain I do feel. This onset of arthritis in my left is the reason I haven’t written in the past few days. I apologize that I have allowed this condition to come between you and I My Dear Readers.

I promise that I will redouble my efforts to get back into posting every week, as many times as possible. This arthritis in my left hand is just terrible. The grinding… the painful popping and the redness and swelling. It is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in my entire life, to this point. However, I’m going to do my best to not let this new disease state increase my depression. I don’t enjoy being depressed. If you know me from high school, or from working with me or as a friend in real life you’ll know I’m an extremely gregarious upbeat fun loving person. This depression, I’ve experienced, is very much out of character for me and I find it difficult to cope with, the medications are helping.

.

That brings us to the end of this mid-holiday week update, My Dear Readers. I hope to have more for you soon. Again, I hope that everyone, each and every one of you, had a very Merry Christmas and spent it with lots of the people that brought you happiness and love. I hope that you got everything that you wanted under the Christmas tree, and even more. I will write again soon, I’ve missed you dearly, and in case I don’t write before. I would like to wish each and every one of you a very happy and prosperous New Year.

.

As always I am deeply honored that you come here and read my work.

.

Thank you!

.

One Week Until Christmas, An Update from Danny...

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. It has been five days since my last article published, and five days of my primary blog location not working. I long to write. I long to publish. I long to be heard. I long to share. I do not like publishing articles to just one of my two blog locations. I feel as though I am leaving half my family out in the cold. In the past five days I have written nearly a dozen requests for assistance. I have yet to receive any answer to my pleas, and my blog is still malfunctioning.

.

My time is not wasted for I am busy creating my world, the world of 'The Adventures of Princess Nadia'. With every passing day, the world comes more into focus, the characters fill out in my mind. My only fear? That someone… perhaps even someone I know takes my idea. I think that is a common fear among struggling artists of all disciplines. For me, they are not just characters in a book, they live in my heart, mind and soul. They tell me their secrets, they share with me their fears.

.

For me, they are quite real. Their namesakes I have raised, loved and lost. Though it is not apparent. You do not see it or hear my words, each and every day I write. Writing in life, there is no life without my words. When I am absent, I am in pain. Yes, physically I am in pain each and every day. So much worse, of late. Yet, I speak of another pain. A pain spawn of longing, desire. My Dear Readers, you know it not, but you give purpose to my life.

.

I struggle with darkness. I live in poverty, but I struggle with a growing darkness. I must thank two of you, My Dear Readers, two of you that have reached out from your world and into mine and shared. Shared of themselves so that I might have some short respite from my fiduciary woes. Because of their kindness, I will have a turkey this Christmas Day. From the very depths of my heart and soul I say “Thank you!” … You know who you are.

.

I am not much for begging. Not much for asking for help. Each time I have sought to raise money, I have worked ever so hard. Hard to write, to entertain, and to repay. Repay the kindness that has come my way. My works… my articles, and yes even 'The Adventures of Princess Nadia' I write out of love... but I also write, to repay. For the debts that I owe, they are debts I fear I may never be able to repay. Repay the kindness that has come my way. When I am absent… this is what darkens my mind, most. That I am failing to repay, your kindness most dear.

.

I write, today, because I do so deeply care. One blog, only, on which this will appear…. I fear. Better one blog… one article… One “Thank you!” Tis better than none.

.

I fight with the darkness, the darkness that seeks to surround. In each and every day, I fight with every fiber of my being, I fight the growing darkness. For those that have never known… poverty… being without. This is a darkness I hope that you never know. It is a darkness that comes from without, yet it grows within. It weakens the ground beneath your very feet. It attacks your sense of self & selfworth, and works behind your back to darken your tomorrows. I am far from alone. I know this to be true. This darkness I share with millions, unknown.

.

We suffer in darkness, we suffer in silence. For (some bloody reason) it is taboo to speak of what one is without, but not taboo to boast of what one does have. A world, upside down, it would appear. A world of grim darkness, for some so dear.

.

I cherish my time in the light of other’s kindness and support. I write in hopes that one day… this darkness I will banish from my life, for all time. With each and every work that I write, I take a step out of darkness and into the light. The light of your kindness. The light of your ‘Like’(s). The light that I feel when, your smile, I make bright. Since childhood I have bathed in this light. At first while singing in choir, at my school. Actually, I sang in choirs in each and every school I attended, since Mading Elementary in Houston in grade three.

.

From grade third until I graduated at Pearland High School, I sang and I sang and I cherished those smiles… the longest of all. Once I moved, and was in Middle School I stepped out from the crowd of my choral group. I stood out in front, and sang… all alone. That was the beginning, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’. I sang all alone, in front of so many… and I made them laugh… and I made them smile.

.

From that point, all the way through college, I stood (without singing) in front of large crowds… and with the words of other men (or women) I made them smile! For the next nine years I stood before crowds. Small crowds, and large.. sometimes as many as twelve hundred… and I made them smile. I breathed life into the words of another, and I did it quite well. Looking back… on that decade… I was happiest, up on that stage. I won awards, and accolades. But, most of all… I made them smile.

.

Know only to a handful of friends, all the time I was singing… all the time I was on those stages… I was doing this. Behind the curtains… when not on a stage… I was writing. Back then, hardly anyone had read my works. I understand, my long curly locks, my presence on stage… and my voice. They all worked to upstage what I was doing (myself) with words. I put them on paper, and most of the time that is where they hid. I doubt, that if you knew me at all, back then,… and are reading these words, you can (for the life of you) remember one thing I wrote.

.

I am not hurt by that reality. Nope, not one bit. During most of that time I was bathing, regularly, in applause. I wrote, for myself. I wrote, because I love words. On more than one occasion, I have been told, that those words… they do love me back.

.

Finally, again I do apologize for the absence this past week. I do despise writing for just one blog. I (honestly) feel, when I publish to just one blog, that I am having an affair. An affair behind the backs of My Dear Readers of the other blog of mine. I am hoping and praying that soon they will fix, the problems that are hampering The Other Shoe at blog.com. I do sincerely promise, that as soon as it is fixed? I will write everyday that my health possibly allows. I still have plans of making a video. A video present of ‘The Night Before Christmas’ performed by me!

.

At the company Christmas Party of Domino Realty in 2002, I did perform that very poem in front of a crowd. It was the very first time I had been on a stage, in decades and decades. God how I loved those moments, and the smiles! The owner of Domino Realty called me, the next day. Stephen Gordon told me that I was “the best act, last night…”. This is a man worth millions, and a man whom I had a deep respect and adoration. Stephen was the man that imported Jordache Jeans, all those years ago. That put Brooke Shields in that commercial, in jeans he imported from France. He took the millions he made, from that venture, and put it into real estate in Southern California.

.

For many years, I honestly thought my time with words, had passed. Replaced with an ability to lease properties… like few men he had seen. I was being groomed for an executive position, for Domino Realty, when my spine started attacking me… causing me growing pain. Earlier this week, I published copies of old newsletters that I wrote, edited and published for another landowner. For several years, I had a captive audience, the residents of Plaza Woods Apartments. If you haven’t checked them out, I think that you should. A long way I have come, since writing those newsletters. However, it gives you a chance to see just how far I have come.

.

“I cherish my time in the light of other’s gains. I write in hopes that one day… this darkness I will banish, for all time. With each and every work that I write, I take a step out of darkness and into the light. The light of your kindness. The light of your ‘Like’(s). The light that I feel when, your smile, I make bright.”

.

As always I am deeply honored that you come here and read my work.

.

Thank you!

.

P.S. Look for pictures, after Christmas, of the feast I will soon make… thanks to the kindness of two of My Dear Readers. Thank you!

 .

A Week In Review December 1st, 2013

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. I am pleased to be back presenting the return of ‘A Week in Review’. This week I managed to publish SIX articles here at The Other Shoe. And, I can tell you, I have the pains and aches to prove it. I was, honestly, not going to write this article today… nor publish. However, it just seemed to be the right thing to do. I can see that my traffic is up at both locations of my blog, so I am hoping to keep ‘A Good Thing’ going.

.

Now, for all my regulars, you will notice that ‘A Week In Review’ is not the top article. I have decided that, for the time being, I am going to leave ‘Boycott Target’ pinned to the front page. If you haven’t already read that article, I would like to implore you to do so. My Dear Readers, I do not talk about… that day. That article is the very first time that I have put the events of that day into written form. It did not come easy.

.

I hope that everyone is sharing ‘Boycott Target’ on all your social media, and among friends and co-workers. This article… and my… experience deserve much better than to be made into some slapstick training video. I hope that you agree and continue to share, and post links to this article… EVERYWHERE.

.

On, on with today’s effort. As I mentioned, I have managed to produce six articles this week. I hope that you all have enjoyed my work. However, if you have been busy with; cooking, shopping, and familial concerns? Here is your opportunity to catch-up with this weeks’ publications. Here we go!

.

  • I’ll Be Seeing You, Again, Soon : “Welcome back My Dearest Readers to The Other Shoe. I have been away for six days, not without good reason. On July 11 of this year I started a campaign to raise money to help me move. A very successful campaign, I might add. However, since I started that campaign I have not taken time away for myself. In the past six months I; was forced to move from a place I called home for a decade, watched a man I dearly love work to undermine his best efforts and destroy his life in slow motion, did everything I could to raise enough money to move alone if need be, packed the majority of my home by myself (which, in my condition, was; terrifying, painful, and humiliating), moved, lost, and worked the very fiber of my being to regain myself and what little status I had in the community I choose to express myself.” This article marked the beginning of, what was to be, a prolific week of writing. I set out to set a goal, and a direction, for my writing… and I managed to succeed. My thinking was, you all would be home more (for the holiday) and I wanted to make sure that you had some of my work to read. Honestly, this is the most I have written and published since my last Indiegogo campaign. NO, I am not planning on running a campaign. … I wish. Yes, things are very tight, financially. For Thanksgiving? I had a turkey pot pie. However, I am not about to start a campaign @ Christmas.

  • Pope Francis Strikes AGAIN  :  “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Today (November 26th, 2013) Pope Francis, again, went out of his way to denounce and decry an “idolatry of money” that will result in “a new tyranny.”[1] Now, I have known from the earliest days of his Papacy, that this Pope would likely change the Catholic Church. I understood the choice of a Pope hailing from a less developed country on the South American continent would shift the focus of the Vatican back to the “needs of the many”. However, I am happy to provide proof of my statement. Here is Pope Francis, in his own words:…” This article came out of nowhere. I was just reading the news, and Pope Francis’ actions just jumped off the page and into my writing. This Pope, Pope Francis, IS the Pope that America needs right now. The level of avarice in America, right now, is disastrous. This has been building, for decades, but now I find the greed and narcissism nauseous. Americans need to take a step back, from the brink and stop measuring themselves and others by their wallets. I am happy to say that I have been on this soapbox for several years. I am comforted that I am no longer alone on the soapbox. I have great company, Pope Francis. IF you have not read this article? I urge you to do so, RIGHT NOW!

  • Daniel’s November Video Update : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Today (November 26th, 2013) has been a very busy day, for me. I already wrote, and published ‘I’ll Be Seeing You, Again, Soon’, recorded and uploaded this video and started a very nice article about Pope Francis. If it is not already published, when you are reading this article, keep the faith. I am certain that I am working, diligently, to get it finished and published for your entertainment and enlightenment. I am not Catholic. My mother switched from Southern Baptist to Catholic late in life… in her 70’s. It made her happy. Something about how the church had been treating her since her divorce… that happened back in the early 70’s. Why they would hold a grudge for decades is beyond me… However, a great many things the Southern Baptists do leaves me vexed.” I was not aware of the fact, at the time, but this article was actually a precursor to an experiment I publish later in the week. It signaled the beginning of my ‘combination’ articles. Where I combine a written article with a corresponding video. I am hoping to continue this practice well into the new year.

  • The Process  : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Today I am conducting a bit of an experiment, as I am writing to you. As the name of this article indicates, The Process, today I’m showing you behind the curtain and a little bit of the process that takes place when I write an article. With the help of this software Dragon ‘Naturally Speaking’[1] speech to text software… I am right now dictating an article as I am making a video of the dictation. Later today… Much later tonight I will be posting this completed article along with this video.” As I mentioned, above, this IS the article I turned into an experiment. From the traffic and votes I see the experiment as a complete success. I wanted ti ‘Give Back’ to all of you My Dear Readers. How better than to show you all how I go about writing and publishing the works you read. I had a very enjoyable time, making this article happen. I hope that you enjoyed the article as much as I enjoyed writing. Thanks!

  • MMORPGs And YOU! Final Fantasy XIV – A Realm Reborn : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. It is my pleasure to announce the resurrection of one of your most favorite article series here at The Other Shoe. That series is, of course, MMORPGs And YOU!. This was an extremely popular series of articles earlier this year. I had mentioned, earlier this week, that I was going to bring back this series to reveal to you the very first MMORPG I ever played World of Warcraft. However, events transpired such that instead today I will bring you a review of the most revered RPG series in the history of gaming. Today I bring you a review, screenshots and video of Final Fantasy XIV (2) ‘A Realm Reborn’.” Again, this article just kind of HAPPENED. I was looking at sales, at Gamestop, and saw that the MMORPG ‘Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn’ was on sale for $14.99. I knew that I could trade in My Coke Reward points for Gamestop bucks… and BAM! Suddenly I am trading in points to bucks, and the next thing I know I am downloading a game I have wanted for, literally, MONTHS! I am quite happy with my purchase, and very happy with this article. As well, this series of articles simply was the single most popular series of any I have published. However, my baking articles are gaining a LOT of popularity. You can look forward to more of those, later this month.

  • Boycott Target : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe and a very special… and very personal article. From the very beginning I am going to beg your patience and indulgence My Dear Readers. As I have never, in my life, engaged in the type of activity I’m embarking on tonight. Tonight I am going to share this single most terrifying incident in my entire life. An incident that forever changed my life and the major reason I find myself in a wheelchair today.’ As I stated, before, IF you have NOT read this article… You simply MUST! This is one of the most heartfelt articles I have ever written. As I mentioned, in the prologue, I have NEVER put the events of that day in written form. Now I have, and I would appreciate all your support. Please, consider Sharing… posting… and even quoting this article as much as you possibly can. I do not know if this article will ‘take-off’… It deserves too. I am deeply wounded that Target turned the most tragic day of my adult life… into… a bloody training video. From what I was told? Most of the time, when it is shown… they LAUGH. I am NOW in a power chair… will be in pain for the rest of my days… and pople LAUGH at the incident that put me in this pain? Help me, please?

Well, that brings us to the end of the week and the end of this article. Please, SHARE… and SHARE… and SHARE! I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. One day… maybe I will, too.

.

As always I am deeply honored that you come here and read my work.

,

Thank YOU!

Daniel's Splendiferous Chocolate/Chocolate Chip Cupcakes

Daniel’s Splendiferous Chocolate/Chocolate Chip Cupcakes

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Today I’m going to be sharing with you a very special cupcake recipe that I have created specifically for my 56th birthday. I am a big experimenter in the kitchen, I always have been every since I started working at Schlotzsky’s and clear Lake City Texas. I do not often experiment with a 20 pound very expensive Thanksgiving day Turkey. However I’ve very much enjoy experimenting with Desserts. Today’s article is the recipe for a Splendiferous Cupcake that I reserve for my birthdays. It has taken me many many years to perfect this recipe.

.

First, I would like to impart a few warnings… Or advice. If you are diabetic you will definitely not want to eat these, or if you do have your insulin handy. Second, if you’re borderline diabetic or you have problems related to blood sugar you will not want to eat more than a couple of these in one setting article stop feeling your feet. You see, My Dear Readers, the recipe I am about to impart is so extremely rich… So completely decadent… That is been known to give out to older people with only one serving.

.

Below is a list of the ingredients you will need to make Daniel’s Splendiferous Chocolate/Chocolate Chip Cupcakes. Please do your best to find the items I am listing with the brands listed and make as few substitutions as is possible. Any substitutions made can and will change the quality texture and flavor of these decadent treats.

,

  • Betty Crocker’s Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix

  • [caption id="attachment_1896" align="aligncenter" width="630"]Betty Crocker’s Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix Betty Crocker’s Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix[/caption]

  • Package of Jell-O Brand Chocolate Pudding Mix (Use ONE HALF of package in batter)

  • [caption id="attachment_1898" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Package of Jell-O Brand Chocolate Pudding Mix Package of Jell-O Brand Chocolate Pudding Mix[/caption]

  • [caption id="attachment_1899" align="aligncenter" width="465"]Package of Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Morsel Package of Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Morsel[/caption]

  • [caption id="attachment_1897" align="aligncenter" width="630"]Betty Crocker Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Premium Frosting, 16 oz Betty Crocker Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Premium Frosting, 16 oz[/caption]

  • 3-4 tablespoons Vital Wheat Gluten (FYI the gluten is essential for this recipe as we are mixing pudding mix with a heavy cake mix. The gluten will keep this receipe from forming… wet hockey pucks.)

  • 3 Large -> Jumbo Eggs

  • 1 ¼ Cups water (Bottled not carbonated)

  • ½ Vegetable Oil (Wesson or Crisco)

  • Cupcake pan

  • Cupcake Liners

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees (as with all my baked goods a Convection Oven works best and will give you the best most uniform results). I use a Oster Convection Wave Toaster Oven  that I got @ Wal-Mart for about $100.00. Now, I prefer to use the metal cupcake liners. However, if you do not like the liners or do not have any (I really suggest them with these cupcakes… they will get all over your hands otherwise) you can just use the Pam spray or like product.

.

Get all your ingredients together, prior to starting. Your best results will happen if there is little to no delay in the preparation/mixing process to pouring into the cupcake pan. I also suggest to have a One Cup and one Two Cup measuring cups handy. Get a large mixing bowl and a flour sifter (three or four cup sifter, if you have one). Now, place ALL of the dry ingredients (Cake mix, Jell-O mix, and Vital Wheat Gluten) into you flour sifter. Sift all the dry ingredients together into the large mixing bowl. I run the dry ingredients through the sifter twice, but once will do fine. Now, place all the wet ingredients (vegetable oil, water, eggs) into the bowl with the dry ingredients. With your hand mixer combine all the ingredients together until they are completely combined. Set your hand mixer to medium  and mix for 2 ½ to 3 minutes. You will have a fluffy batter that is very smooth on the surface and has risen slightly. Now, take One-Half of the package of chocolate chips and hand-mix these into the batter. Making sure that all the chips are covered with batter.

.

Now, fill your two or three cup measuring cup with the batter and fill each cupcake liner about ½ to 2/3 full. Do not fill to the top, leave a good amount of room for the cupcakes to rise and not get all over your nice cupcake pan. Place in your preheated oven and cook for about 21-23 minutes. Either use a toothpick to check they are done, or you can press lightly on the top of the cupcakes. If they do not leave batter on your finger, and bounce back nicely, they are done. Since we have some pudding in this batter, a little longer is better, just make sure the tops do not burn.

.

This recipe should make you about three dozen cupcakes. Stand and let cool, then frost with the awesome Betty Crocker Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Premium Frosting. If you want to be special or it is a special occasion you can put a chocolate chip on the peak of the frosting. If it is really special, use a Hershey’s Kiss to top the cupcake frosting.

.

As I stated above, eat these… only a couple at a time. Eating too many of these puppies at once… and you’ll begin loosing feeling in your feet. J

.

ENJOY!

Special Banana-Nut Muffins with Praline Topping

[caption id="attachment_1801" align="aligncenter" width="630"]Daniel's Speical Banana Nut Muffins Daniel's Speical Banana Nut Muffins[/caption]

Welcome back My Dear Readers, to The Other Shoeand another recipe with videos. Yesterday I brought you my Halloween Crock Pot Beef Stew with Videostoday I am bringing you my Special Daniel’s Banana Nut Muffins with Praline Top. This is one of my most favorite Holiday Recipes. As you can tell, My Dear Readers, I am adding many more recipes for the holidays, this year.

.

[youtube=http://youtu.be/RkJ-PiuRUTs]

.

This is a very easy recipe to make, you likely have all the items needed in your kitchen, and only takes minutes to prepare. Take an off the shelf Banana-Nut Muffin boxed product. I prefer the Krusteaz product, but am using the Betty Crocker boxed product in today’s video. Prepare the muffins as directed on the box, and add one heaping tablespoon of gluten. [FYI Those with concerns about Gluten Allergies’. If you believe you have a gluten allergy, and haven’t been tested by an Allergist/Immunologist you likely do not have a gluten allergy. Just last year the Journal of the American Medical Association, in conjunction with the American Association of Epidemiologists, addressed the surreal increase in food allergies in Americans. Your General Practitioner is not qualified to run allergy tests, only believe and act on results by an Allergist/Immunologist. Most Americans that think they have a gluten allergy… actually, just ate too much of a sweet in one sitting.] Mix as indicated and set aside while you prepare the following.

.

Take two tablespoons of brown sugar, ¼ cup of walnuts and one teaspoon of cinnamon. Grind the walnuts to a fine consistency, add to the brown sugar and cinnamon. Now, sprinkle this mixture on the top of each muffin. Place muffins into a preheated oven, preheated @ 25 degrees lower than indicated on the box. Bake until golden brown, let stand to cool and serve.

Halloween Crock Pot Stew Videos, and a Thanks!

Welcome back My Dear Readers, to The Other Shoe and a special video edition for Halloween. Last week I shared my concerns… about my lack of food in the new home. I remarked that I have the rent covered, but that I would be without food until my SNAP benefits came on the 10th of November. I explained that I was putting up several of my personal possessions, in order to purchase some food. I have added a link to The Other Shoe eBay Store to every article, since.

.

I did not come out and scream that I was without food, or proclaim that I was not eating (even though… I was not). I dropped a hint and worked to post many of my personal belongings and hoped that they would sell. Once I saw that eBay had become the ‘Dirt Mall’ of the internet, I explained that I would be moving all the articles to sell over at Amazon… once again, to get some food in my home. FYI I have not listed at Amazon, yet, because they demand the weight of each item I am posting… and I do not have a scale of any kind. Therefore, once I get my disability at the first of the month I am going to purchase a scale. That way I can continue to try to raise funds to help my family.

.

Allen went to his first day of work, at his new job @ Khol’s. He was hired late last week, and today he is working his first full day at his new job. I am very proud of Allen. Proud that at 47 he managed to land a job so quickly. He was very busy looking for work, and this had been a very difficult time for Allen. My condition is bothering him, I am waking a lot at night… unable to breath. My pain is much worse, and the pain medication (that I have been on now for ten years) just isn’t doing the trick anymore. My depression grows, with every passing day.

.

I am hoping that my doctor changes my pain medication when I see him next week. Now that I have all of that out of the way, I would like to share a series of videos I have made today… of my Halloween Crock Pot Stew.

.

This first video shows the staging of all the contents of my Halloween Crock Pot Stew;

This next video shows all the contents in the crock pot, all cut and combined, waiting for me to turn on the heat and begin the 10-12 hour process.

This next video is about two hours into the cooking process. You can see that the veggies are beginning to cook.

This is the last video I have made, today, About six hours in, it is really beginning to look (and smell) like a great stew.

.

Now, I have to take a moment to give credit, where it is due. After all my efforts to make money on eBay. After all my mentions on Facebook and my blogs. One person did come to my aid. Again, Ian Cottier worked tirelessly to get food to me. First, he went to Von’s Home Delivery web site and picked out a whole bunch of food for me, and was ready to have it delivered to me at home. Once Ian was faced with the road block of Von’s not accepting European Credit Cards on their web site. Ian went yet another step and sent me funds via Paypal.

.

Thanks to Ian I am going to have a wonderful ‘Halloween Crock Pot Dinner’ and more than a week’s worth of food. This could, easily, take me right up to the date I get my SNAP funds. I am in debt to Mr. Ian Cottier, for his generosity and his diligence in getting food to me. .

“Thank you Ian!”

.

.

As always I am honored that you come here and read my work.

.

Thank you.

A Week In Review - August 10th 2013

Welcome back, My Dear Readers, to The Other Shoe. I apologize for not having this posted earlier. I have this darn persistent fever… nothing high… like 102… just between 99.8 and 100.4. My doctor thinks I… that the bone grafts… that never ‘knitted’ have developed and infection. I am supposed to go in for blood tests. However, that would take most of a day. That means I would miss another day writing and posting.

.

I already am going to be gone most of the day Tuesday the 13th. I cannot afford to be gone another day this week. Sorry about that, I am a little off and… dizzy. Anyway, here is this week’s

.

‘A Week In Review’ Enjoy!

.

  • Sunday Funnies August 4th, 2013 : “Welcome back, My Dear Readers, to The Other Shoe. If it is Sunday then it is time for ‘Sunday Funnies’! Today I have one of my favorite antics by Alexander. He just loves curly fries from Arby’s. This is a short of Alexander absconding with most of my curly fries, just the other night.” If it wasn’t for Alexander I would never smile, anymore. He loves me so deeply. I swear that he is self-aware. I know that nobody believes that, but I can see it in his eyes. Also, he SEES himself in the mirror in the bathroom. He will be on my shoulder, and I stand in front of the mirror… call out his name and wave. Looking directly into the mirror into his eyes… and he talks to me. He even reaches over and licks my face… like a dog. I really hope my health holds up until I get this book finished. At least the first one.

  • Today? Danny SAVED LIVES! : “Welcome back, My Dear Readers, to The Other Shoe and a very special article all about me. As most of you know the building I live in has been sold. The building was sold to foreign interests with offices in Los Angeles. They have kicked everyone but the long term residents out, with only days to a week notice. They took away our dumpsters before providing replacements.” I know that nobody believes me. However, I did get the work in the pool STOPPED. All they were going to do is; repair the rebar, fill in the hole under the broken pool foundation and pour in cement. THAT would have failed! See, the ground under the pool has been exposed to; rain, weather, settling, and erosion for three years. There is no way they could have compacted the soil enough to support the pool’s weight and volume of water by just ‘backfilling’. As well, the foundation of a pool (as far as I was told and educated) must be one pour. The foundation must support ten tons of water and the kenetic energy ccreated by thirty to forty people playing in the water. I looked at the crappy way they were trying to repair… and I saw THIS. I saw the ‘repaired’ holes giving way… water pouring through the holes past broken and sharp rebar. I saw people even CHILDREN getting sucked through the broken rebar and concrete down into the hole. I saw it in my mind’s eye and it made me sick! What kind of ‘person’ places the lives of innocent people and children in jeopardy… to save some money? Not ME! FYI The inspector agreed with me… and told me so over the phone.

  • August 6th, 2013 Danny’s Update : “Welcome back, My Dear Readers, to The Other Shoe. Today I am in extreme pain, but I cannot just leave everyone in the dark. I am working with the Nuance Dragon Speech software… and I doubt I will have a chance to correct. Please overlook the… errors. At least just this once.” Dark days and pain. The pain hasn’t stopped… hardly relented. It is intractable... but if I do not write people will not help. So, I work through the pain and pray that I get the financial support I need. Tuesday I have a new MRI. I will try to get the results and share them here @ The Other Shoe.

  • Unbridled Capitalism vs. Human Strife: “Welcome back, My Dear Readers, to The Other Shoe. Today I am going to write about a concern I am facing with regarding my publications at The Other Shoe. I like to write about news and policy that strikes a personal note, to me. Policy that effects my life, or the lives of people close to me. For the past three years I have written articles on a myriad of subjects. I have never written any article just to lambast a party or political party member.” And I succeeded. I did not bash any party or member of a political party. I kept my word, and I will continue to do my level best to keep my articles about policy and not attack a party. It is interesting that this is a topic all over the net… this week. It was the focus of two speeches by the new Pope Francis. I think it is time that we, the American people, renewed our societal obligation to the poor. ““A society that “does not pay a just wage”, that “does not give work” to people; a society that “that only looks to its balance books, that only seeks profit” is unjust and goes against God.” From Vatican Radio’s broadcast of a speech from Pope Francis.

  • Digging Deep For Content… And A Horrifying Dream: “I was… in a public library. I had my notebook computer… the one that I write everything I post on… and… there were parts to the notebook missing. I was desperate to write… to publish… to entertain you, My Dear Readers, but my computer would not work. There were external drives missing… and a power cord or two. I was frantic, in the dream, to get my notebook working and begin to write. In the dream… I had envisioned a scene from ‘The Adventures of Princess Nadia’ in my head. I was desperate to write it down… before it left my head. I couldn’t… my computer would not work…” I awoke covered in sweat and shaking. I am having dreams, just like this, often… now. I haven’t dreamed, like this, in years and years. Honestly… ALL I want is a new place to live. Nothing fancy… just not on the street. I promise.. I am not using the money you donate for; booze, drugs, parties, or even fun. I pinch every penny till it screams for mercy. I have not been to see a moive in ten years. I am using the same glasses I got seven years ago. I don’t allow myself any fun.I just am so scared to death of… being homeless. In my condition? Being homeless would = death. If you can… please do help. Thank you!

  • A Word of “Thanks!” To My Indiegogo Campaign Contributors : “I have just posted my “Thank you!” to ‘Anonymous’ for their contribution of $100. This contribution takes the campaign one BIG step forward towards our goal. For that, I am, eternally grateful. This contribution couldn’t have come at a better time. As many of you might have noticed, those that read my works @ The Other Shoe, I was getting pretty blue.” I still have no idea who it was that gave that fateful $100 contribution that put me within striking distance of $1,000.00. I cannot pick up things… I cannot move alone. I have never paid movers… now I must. This is not a happy time. I am deeply embarrassed… ashamed. I just want to have the funds to move… to another crapy motel.. if that be my fate. I genuinely appreciate everything… every contribution is a gift from God. I hope that I make it… Make enough to pay for movers… a truck and enough to get a new room. I honestly??? Pray endlessly… that I get enough to get the punk OUT of California. I doubt it will happen. I am not that fortunate. I can wish… right?

  • Where Have All the Honeybees Gone?: “Welcome back, My Dear Readers, to The Other Shoe. It is not often that I get an opportunity like this, My Dear Readers, I am glad this is happened on the weekend. Being on the weekend I have the chance to reach the largest number of readers. I know this by looking at my traffic reports. A side note, I have been working on original content ever so diligently for the past six weeks. In so doing I have neglected my responsibility of providing traffic reports for The Other Shoe. That changes this weekend I promise you.” I really hope to feel good enough to get together the traffic reports. I have already looked at them… they are impressive. Just last week; TWELVE articles in seven days… FIVE HUNDERED ‘likes’ and nearly a thousand visitors. The campaign now has 300+ Likes… Anyway, this article about bees! Is really good. Time has an article out, this week, about the problem. There are two really good documentaries at Netflix about it as well. This problem is only getting worse… every year. I do not think the majority of Americans fully comprehend just what this means to FOOD! This is just the tip of the iceberg… IMHO. Just waiting for The Other Shoe to Drop! J

.

I was hoping to have finished my article about Education. It is just not going to happen. I am needing to rest… so that maybe I can get out ‘Sunday Funnies’ tomorrow. I apologize for my shortcomings. I have so many… My Dear Readers. And you mean the world to me. For the past six weeks I have pushed past; fever, pain, depression, pain, limited movement, lack of food, and (did I mention) pain.

.,

I will do my best to keep prodding and writing and publishing. I PROMISE!

.

As always, I am deeply honored that you come here to read my work. I have no words to share that accurately convey the honor I feel when I see the ‘Likes’ and ‘Shares’. I can only hope that I do your time and efforts the respect and honor they deserve. So long as there is breath in my lungs… and at least one hand works. I will continue to write and publish. “Thank YOU!”

.

I ask your indulgence, once again. I am getting so close to my goal. If you have the time… and the money. Would you please consider assisting me? Just click on the widget below… and donate to help me move. There is still the 50th Anniversary Disneyland Dessert Plates and Pins available as perks. Either one would put me over my first MAJOR milestone in the campaign. Again…

.

THANK YOU!

Where Have All the Honeybees Gone?

Welcome back, My Dear Readers, to The Other Shoe. That changes this weekend I promise you.

[caption id="attachment_1345" align="aligncenter" width="566"]Honeybee With Flower Honeybee With Flower[/caption]

.

By dinner time tomorrow, Sunday, August 11, 2013, I will post my traffic report for both blogs for the month of July 2013. I now for fall that, although I know the traffic reports are going to look great you, My Dear Readers, have turned out in record numbers for at least the past month.

The subject of today is article, this article, will be Apis Mellifera also known as the Western honeybee. The problem with the Western honeybee as known as CCD: colony-collapse disorder. First noticed, by commercial beekeepers in America, and 2006. This malady is now responsible for a crippling blow to a fifteen billion dollar American agriculture system.

.

Just so that you, My Dear Readers, understand the width and depth and the severity of the situation. Just last winter one third of all United States honeybee colonies died or disappeared. The average loss of the United States Western honey bee keeper, during a normal winter, is only 10% to 15%. That is an increase in an order of magnitude of 100%, in just one year. Honeybees are responsible for the colonization of all; apples, almonds, asparagus, avocados, broccoli, blueberries, cherries, cantaloupes, cherries, celery, cranberries, cucumbers, lemons, lettuce, onions, plums, watermelons, tangerines, zucchini and all other squashes. As well as 20% of all cotton frown in the United States 2% or peanuts and 1% of grapes.

“If the Dean disappears from the surface of the globe, man would have no more than four years to live.” Albert Einstein.

.

[caption id="attachment_1346" align="aligncenter" width="500"]Crime Scene Bees Crime Scene Bees[/caption]

.

Whether or not Albert Einstein actually stand or wrote the word is in dispute. What is not in dispute is the fact that the Western Honeybee is, very likely, the ‘Canary-in-the-coal-mine’ for mankind. Whatever is causing CCD could, very likely, spread to other life forms on Earth. Even mankind himself.

And another little factoid, that I until researching this article did not know. The Western honeybee is not from the North American continent at all! Dean, what we now call, Western honeybee was actually imported into North America in the seventeenth century.

.

This brings me to one of the major reasons, it is thought, for CCD. In the seventeenth century farmers grew many different crops. They had multi-culture farms back then, in America. Now, more times than not, American farms are huge corporate farms and they are monocultures of; corn, rice or soybeans. However, there is a government program called Conservation Reserve Program that actually pays farmers not to plant a percentage of their farms. You see, monoculture farms appear, to honeybees, as vast and inhospitable deserts. Literally miles upon mules of nothing but corn or wheat or soybeans. With no flowering plants that they can pollinate or use for food for their hives. That is why the CRP was created. TO break up these huge deserts creating by commercial farming. Nevertheless, this year the program only paid for 25.3 million acres. Down significantly since its peak in 2007 and the single smallest level since 1988.

.

There is a type of pesticide that is thought to be part of the problem. They are called neonicotinoids and they entered the marketplace (and our ecosystem) about the same time as CCD began. For many beekeepers these chemicals are the most likely culprit. As well, there is American foulbrood, a bacterial disease that kills bees while they are developing. Not to be outdone by chemicals or bacteria, there is the ‘hive beetle’ (thy c contaminate hivs) and the bloodies of all? Varroa destructor a microscopic mite that burrows deep into brood cells that host baby bees. They have a sharp two-pronged tongue that can pierce a bee’s exoskeleton and suck out its hemolymph the fluid that serves as blood for honeybee.

.

A research scientist at the University of Maryland, Dennis vanEngelsdrop proposes that America is suffering from a “nature deficit disorder and that our American honeybee is the victim of this loss of nature and over industrialization of our nation. This school of thought believes that if Americans starting planting more bee-friendly flowers and plants in our home backyards, we could make a real dent in the incidence of CCD.

.

Yet another school of thought is based on the use of sugar water and the same corn syrup used to make soft drinks is being used as a supplement to the diet of American honeybees. Thinking that these sugary foods are just as bad for bees as they are for us and our hyper-active children. There are even more culprits that are being considered, but I just wanted to represent the most likely causes of CCD in this article.

.

[caption id="attachment_1347" align="aligncenter" width="624"]Honey Bee Honey Bee[/caption]

.

Whatever the reason for the growing incidence of CCD, the result is the same. In just the past ten years it is estimated that over ten billion honeybees have died. In just a little under twenty years more bees have died, of an unexplained malady, than have died due to unnatural causes in the past one hindered years that came before.

. The American honeybee is not alone, either. The wild bumblebee and wild bees are dying in record numbers, too. In June, of this year, 50,000 wild bees died, in Oregon. A landscaping company sprayed insecticide on trees. This action caused the single largest mass poisoning of bees (of any kind) on record.

.

Globally, each year, over 100,000 animal species become extinct. This is a pattern of genocide that makes life on Earth… unsustainable… for mankind. Man cannot live solo, on this planet. We depend on many other species for our survival. Now, we begin to realize, that they depend on us for their survival. Mankind simply must stop being so.. callus. Callus towards our co-habitants of this planet and less callus towards his fellow man.

.

For more information, and a much better representation of the science and extent of this disease? I have a little independent movie I recently watched on Netflix. It is called ‘Vanishing of the Bees’. With a running time of one hour and twenty-seven minutes, it simply is the best use of an hour and a half of your weekend.

.

As always, My Dear Readers, I am deeply honored that you have come to The Other Shoe to read my words. I hope that I have entertained and maybe even enlightened. I take your patronage seriously and value your time and efforts. In closing, I ask your indulgence… for just a moment. I am a severely disabled American… in dire need of help. The building I have lived in, for the past decade, has been sold to foreign interests. Everyone that was living here, is being kicked out. In exchange… we are seeing… Americans from India moving into the vacant rooms. Nobody else it being allowed to move in, at this time. I find this development… disturbing. I am not a racist… at least I try very hard to not act or think in terms of race or color. However, I have never seen anything like this before.

I just want to move and get away from this… whatever it is. However, my disability is getting worse and worse. My doctor is documenting my declining health. I have done my best to try and save money… but I am forced to ask for your assistance. I am deeply embarrassed… even humiliated… by doing this. Please, will you consider donating to my relocation campaign? Below is a link to the Indiegogo campaign I am running. There is only two weeks left for me to raise the funds I need. I would be deeply honored… humbled if you could see your wat clear… to help… to donate.

From the bottom of my heart I say:

“Thank YOU!”

No Great Loss...

No Great Loss!

.

[caption id="attachment_655" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Angus Burger Mc Donald's Angus Burger[/caption]

.

Today the corporate offices of Mc Donald's Restaurants announced that they will no longer be serving the 1/3lb 'Angus' burger in its stores.

"A bit of bad news for all you beef lovers out there: McDonald's said Thursday that it's cutting one-third pound Angus burgers from its menus in the U.S. as beef prices hit all-time highs." (From NBC news)

.

This comes as not great loss to me because they never tasted that good. I have tried, several times, to garner a taste for these burgers, to no avail. I am happy to see that American beef prices are on the rise. I cannot tell you how many times I have been forced to listen to clap trap about how 'President Obama is bad for beef... beef prices are at an all time low (lie)...' and similar distasteful rhetoric. Now the cow is out of the barn; beef prices are on the rise and the 'Angus' burger has gone to the place Carl's Jr. 'Where's the beef?' lady went. Good riddance.

Thanks for dropping by and reading.

ENJOY!

Daniel's White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut Cookie

This recipe is going to be a little different from your mass produced recipe. I ask you to go through steps, you might not be familiar with, and to use ingredients that you might not be familiar with, either. The cookie recipes I am going to share, I liberated from The Broadmoor Hotel back in 198?. They made incredible cookies, back then, and I figured I was just helping to preserve the recipes!

Today’s recipe is one of my favorite to make, and eat. When made ‘just right’ they taste of vanilla ice cream and have a crunchy caramelized sugar bottom. Disclaimer: I assume no responsibility for any weight gain or health problems associated with/from eating these cookies. ;)

First, let’s preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper and set aside. Get these ingredients together and set aside; dry and wet:

v    Dry Ingredients-

  • 1 2/3 cup all-purpose flour (If you like a more ‘cake-like’ cookie you can use bread flour instead)

  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • ¾  cup light brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon wheat gluten

  • 2 cups (12 oz package) Nestle Premier White Chocolate Morsels

  • ¾ cup chopped Macadamia nuts (coarse not fine)

v    Wet Ingredients-

  • ¾ cup butter (1 ½ sticks) OR 3/4 cup Crisco Butter Flavored Baking Sticks + 2 tablespoons of bottled water

  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract (Pure Vanilla Extract not Imitation)

  • One Tablespoon Molasses (Non-Sulfured/Sweet)

  • 1 Large Egg (or two egg whites for low cholesterol ) - For Cake-Like cookies use Two Eggs or one whole egg and one egg white (low cholesterol) add 1 tablespoon gluten to balance cookie.

  • One-teaspoon cool water (refrigerated bottled water is best)

.

[caption id="attachment_410" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Macadamia-Nut-White-Chocolate-Chip-Cookies Macadamia-Nut-White-Chocolate-Chip-Cookies: Note the dark brown edges and the golden brown cookie. These are cooked to perfection and will be crunchy on the bottom and soft in the center.. and taste like Vanilla Ice Cream![/caption]

.

Now the first thing is to make sure you have ALL the ingredients together before starting. This cookie batter really depends on timing, if something sits too long the dough can stiffen and result in a brittle cookie instead of a soft cookie.

Take all the dry ingredients and put together in a mixing bowel or sifting colander. (I use the sifter, I find cookies are more consistent and uniform in taste, size, shape and quality when I use a sifter and wheat gluten) Put in flour, salt, gluten, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon, in a sifter and shake/agitate. Set aside some place cool and dry.

Now mix the butter (or Crisco/water) and sugars together. As you mix these two slowly mix in the egg. Fluff this compound with a hand beater or egg wisk. You want an airy light mixture. Fold in the vanilla and molasses and quickly take the dry ingredients mixture and fold that into the wet ingredients.

Folding the dry to wet ingredients you will come to a point where the texture is ‘cornbread’ this is when you want to fold in the Macadamia nuts and then the white chocolate chips. Thoroughly mix this but try to fold, not mix, to keep the air in the dough.

Place one tablespoon of the cookie dough on the parchment paper placing each two inches apart. (this should give you two cookies beside each other and three or four rows).

Bake for 8-12 minutes until the cookie is golden brown and the edges are slightly brown. This will ensure that the sugar/molasses caramelizes on the bottom and makes a sweet crunchy crust on the bottom of the cookie.  Should make about three dozen cookies. Enjoy!

Thank you for  your generoisty and kindness in this my time of need.
