AMES, Iowa – "Donald Trump said on Saturday that GOP Sen. John McCain of Arizona was “not a war hero” because he had been taken prisoner by the Vietcong, prompting a firestorm of criticism from Republican leaders.“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said during an onstage Q&A at the conservative Family Leadership Summit, an event that features a number of Republican presidential contenders. “He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured, okay?”

Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. This is just WAY out of line, IMHO! I am a well known Democrat, but even I (myslef) find this just too hyperbolic for ANY party at ANY time. I am reading that, shortly after making these distrubing remarks, he DENIED that he EVER SAID IT!!! My Dear Shoevians, America and Americans MUST make a STAND against this type of gut wrenching hyperbolic rhetoric. . What do YOU think? Share you feelings, thoughts, impressions below with COMMENTS!

Texas 2014 a Year in Review

[caption id="attachment_3831" align="aligncenter" width="450"]Texas Texas[/caption]

.

Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Yes, here I am again today. I know that this is highly unusual, and I am really pressing my ability to sit up and write… but THIS! Well, what I am about to share with you was posted on Facebook by a friend of mine. His name is Pat Kendrick and he still lives in Texas, in Sugarland. In the five years, well in March five years, of this blog I have never published anything posted on Facebook.

.

I have never been allowed the privilege on showcasing their words here on my blog at The Other Shoe. Today that changed! Today I have been given the esteem privilege of publishing for you, My Dear Shoevians, of sharing some very powerful words directly from the heat of the Great State of Texas. Finally, I would like to say “Thank you!” to Pat Kendrick for the honor of sharing his incredible words… his insight… his vision.

.

Now, without further adieu, I give you… Texas 2014 a Year in Review” by Pat Kendrick:

.

Texas 2014 year in review: Governor Rick Perry indicted on 2 felonies.
Attorney General Gregg Abbott sues Obama twice. Once over Obamacare, once of immigration, Ted Cruz is still a US Senator from Texas, Abbott elected Governor, Texans turns their backs with hate toward kids trying to escape tyranny and terror, no Medicaid expansion leaving 10,000,000 Texans uninsured, 49th in education, 1st in minimum wage jobs, a new Lt Gov who led the charge to fire 11,000 teachers and thi...nks ISIS is our greatest threat in Texas, Kim Kardashian got married twice or 2 more than the number of Texans who died in the fake Ebola scare, open carry let people with penis envy carry AK 47s around town and in stores, voter ID laws restricted voting though no evidence at voter fraud exists, Texas women have their constitutional right of choice virtually eliminated by draconian laws, Louis Ghomert, Joe Barton, and Blake Farenthold are actually Congressmen from Texas, and our textbooks now list Moses as a founding father and slavery not such a bad deal. A glorious year in Texas politics. I'd say 2015 has to be better but I'm scared I'll be wrong
.

.

And people wonder ‘why’ I won’t go back to Texas, even to visit. Yet, My Dear Shoevians, I cannot help but feel that I have… somehow… abandoned my fellow Texans to the butchers. That is how it feels to me… inside. I LOVED growing up in Texas… I LOVED being a Texan. That is… until… things changed.

.

Now, the whole world can clearly see that not all Texans walk in lock step. That there are many Texans that do not approve of the dire and draconian changes happening in my home state. laugh I don’t know how long it has been since I referred to Texas as my home state. I haven’t visited in nearly thirty years. It is the state of my birth. Yet, I am ashamed. If you have read Mr. Pat Kendrick’s words, above, and you were from Texas, wouldn’t you be ashamed?

.

Again I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for Pat Kendrick for the privilege of sharing his words with all of you, My Dear Shoevians.

.

I have become... suddenly.. very tired. I knew that I was pushing too hard… and I still have to copy/paste to two blogs… proof and publish.

.

Adieu!

.

Thank you!

BREAKING NEWS - Gov. Perry BOOKED in Travis County

[caption id="attachment_3376" align="aligncenter" width="630"]Rick Perry Turns Himself in 2 (R) Gov. Rick Perry As He Awaits Booking in Austin, Texas[/caption]

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

.

JUST IN – Austin, Texas: Republican Governor Rick Perry has just surrendered to authorities at the Travis County criminal justice center. Indicted for ‘Abuse of Power’ as Governor of the State of Texas, (R) Rick Perry was lead away, just moments ago, to booking at the criminal justice center in Austin, Texas. While dividing, along party lines, many in the Great State of Texas the reality of this situation is far fro ‘politically motivated’.

.

The 'Special Prosecuter' that brought the indictment, that now has the Governor behind bars, was an appointee of a Republican Governor George Bush. That kind of puts the kibosh on any/all claims that his prosecution was (in any way) ‘politically motivated’. However, conversely the Governor’s actions do seem to be politically motivated. Here’s why:

.

The idea that he was concerned about Lehmberg's drunk driving is also fatuous nonsense. Two other Texas DAs were arrested for DUI during Perry's tenure in office and he spoke not a discouraging word about their indiscretions. Kaufman County D.A. Rick Harrison drove the wrong way into traffic and was found guilty of drunk driving in 2009 and in 2003 Terry McEachern, DA of Swisher County, was convicted of a DUI. Perry said nothing. It's probably only coincidental that both of those individuals were Republicans and did not oversee an investigative unit responsible for keeping elected officials honest in the capitol.” [1]

.

For those that have only listened to hyperbolic and sanitized “News” sources, here is the rteal reason (R) Governor Rick Perry turned himself in, today.

.

“Perry is accused of using his veto authority to coerce a publicly elected official into leaving office. And when the veto threat, and later the actual exercise of the veto didn't work, he may have tried a bit of bribery, which is why he is facing criminal charges.

Not because he exercised his constitutional veto authority.”[2]
.

Regardless of the motivation of the indictment? Now the Travis County DA has the unenviable task of proving his case and, perhaps, sending the “longest sitting Governor of Texas”[3] to prison for up to 98 years. That is the maximum possible sentence if Parry is found guilty of the charges he now faces. The minimum is seven the maximum is 98 years. As I watched him, on the web cast of his arriving at the Travis County criminal justice center, he was on high spirits. Laughing with the staff that accompanied him and joking, too.

.

[caption id="attachment_3375" align="aligncenter" width="630"]Rick Perry Turns Himself in Austin, Texas Rick Perry Turns Himself in Austin, Texas[/caption]

.

His face did grow more somber as he was lead to the back room where his (soon to be world famous) ‘Mug Shot’ will be taken. It is expected that said Perry Mug shot’ should be available on CNN within the hour. If it is? I will add it to this article just as soon as I barrow it from the CNN web site.

.

More updates as they happen My Dear Readers. Thanks for dropping by!

.

P.S. The Governor has been charged and booked on TWO Felony Charges. More as it becomes available.

.

Adieu!

.

Thank YOU!

Notes from Behind the Keyboard - Editorial

.

[caption id="attachment_2868" align="aligncenter" width="630"]Danny Hanning of The Other Shoe - May 6th, 2014 Danny Hanning of The Other Shoe - May 6th, 2014[/caption]

.

Welcome back MY Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. If you looked, carefully, at the title of toady’s offering then you know that today is something special. In the, more than, four years that I have published this blog… four years and 493 (with this 494) articles I have rarely presented an ‘Editorial’. Events have transpired that have forced my hand, in that regard. Today I come to you, My Dear Readers, with a bone to pick.

.

The last couple of news cycles have been bloated with hype that Speaker Boehner is going to “Sue President Obama”. Sue our sitting President over, allegedly, his “misuse of power via ‘Executive Orders’”. OK… hang on… give me a minute to stop laughing. There, that’s better. OK…Seriously? Speaker of the House of Representatives is so ‘free’ of other obligations… The House of Representatives have so much ‘free time’… They have ‘finished their homework’? Oh… MERCY! I do take exception to that assertion. Let us review:

.

Ohio - Republican (R) John Boehner was (first) sworn in as ‘Speaker’ of The House of Representatives on January 5th 2011 for the 112th Congress. Below is a video of Rep. John Boehner after being sworn in as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

.

[youtube=http://youtu.be/prz4LDCTHAg]

.

(To this day… I am still vexed by why he picked the… ‘large’ [‘oversized’] gavel for his Speakership. Note: Each Speaker is allowed to ‘pick’ his own gavel to be used as ‘Speaker’ for the House of Representatives.)

.

So, the last Session of Congress that was lead by a Democrat Speaker was…. (can anyone tell me?)… the 111th Congress was the last to have a Democrat as a Speaker. Now, let us have a little review – The 111th Congress passed 861 Bills (see next graphic below)that garnered 383 New Laws [1]that were signed into law. The last act of Democrats, while in control of the House of Representatives, was to work very hard and passed 383 bills that were signed into law. (That was the ‘Second’ Session of the 111th Congress seated in 2010).

.

[caption id="attachment_3130" align="aligncenter" width="503"]Chart of Bills Passed by Congress Past 20 years Chart of Bills Passed by Congress Past 20 years[/caption]

.

Now, here is where it gets just totally squirrelly! Since (R) Rep. John Boehner was sworn in as Speaker the (Republican Controlled) Congress has voted (a Grand total of) FIFTY-FOUR times to ‘Repeal Obamacare’. Coincidently, each and every time their votes were ceremonial ONLY because they knew that they lack the votes in the Senate. Yet… and here is where the squirrelly part comes to play:

.

  • Congressional Republicans have held FIFTY-FOUR votes repealing ‘Obamacare’.

  • The 112th Congress was documented as “The Least Productive Congress”[2] Passing few bills, making fewer laws than any since the 107th in 2001.

  • The 113th Congress (also) was documented as ‘The Least Productive in Modern History”[3]

.

[caption id="attachment_3131" align="aligncenter" width="630"]80th Congress to 112th Congress ‘Bills Passed’ 80th Congress to 112th Congress ‘Bills Passed’[/caption]

(80th Congress to 112th Congress ‘Bills Passed’)

.

Now we are in the first session of the 114th Congress, and the pace of legislation has not changed. Yet, Speaker Boehner is calling on the ‘Bi-Partisan Legal Advisory Group’ to execute his (frivolous) action[4]. The ‘Bi-Partisan Legal Advisory Group’ is made up of: The Speaker of the House, The House Majority Leader, The House Minority Leader, and BOTH ‘Party Whips’. Let me see… is there anything else that this group of esteemed LEADERS of the House or Representatives could work on… instead? Say… like; ‘Immigration Reform’… ‘Improving Conditions at Veteran’s Administration Hospitals’… ‘Campaign Finance Reform’… oh, I could go on and one and list, maybe, fifteen items of National Importance that these Leadership Members could better spend their time on, than trying to figure out a way to sue President Obama over ‘Abuse of Executive Orders’. But, he is the Speaker… so let’s look at the number(s)!

.

Below is a graphic showing the NUMBER of ‘Executicve Actions’ by President from Washington to President Obama. Let’s take a look-see!

Last Update: Data Through June 20, 2014. (through 5.42 years of the Obama Administration)

Citation: Gerhard Peters. "Executive Orders." The American Presidency Project. Ed. John T. Woolley and Gerhard Peters. Santa Barbara, CA. 1999-2014. Available from the World Wide Web: http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/data/orders.php.

Notes:
1 1789 to 1945 (Roosevelt) data includes "numbered" and "unnumbered" executive orders. 1945 (Truman) data includes only numbered executive orders including those with letter designations (ex. Executive Order 9577-A).

Data Sources:
• 1789 - 1945 (Roosevelt) data obtained from Lyn Ragsdale, "Vital Statisitcs on the Presidency: Washington to Clinton." rev. ed. (Washington, D.C.: CQ Press, 1998).
• 1945 (Truman) - present data compiled by Gerhard Peters, The American Presidency Project, from documents contained in the Federal Register.

.

So, let me see… President Obama has used a total of 182 ‘Executive Orders’ (so far) in his two terms as President. What have the other Presidents passed?

  • George W. Bush = 291

  • William J. Clinton = 364

  • George H.W. Bush = 166 (ONE term)

  • Ronald Reagan = 381

  • Jimmy Carter = 320

  • Gerald R. Ford = 169 (LESS than One Term)

  • Richard Nixon = 346

  • Lyndon B Johnson = 325 (One Term)

  • John F Kennedy = 214 (One Term)

  • Dwight D Eisenhower = 484

  • Barrack Obama = 182 (In nearly TWO Terms)

.

Yeah, wow… that is a total “abuse of power”! While facing two sessions of ‘The Least Productive Congress” President Obama has used fewer ‘Executive Actions’ than any other sitting President in my lifetime (five year at least, Two Term Presidents). It would seem that Speaker Boehner is… jumping the gun. ?!? Shouldn’t there appear to be some abuse of a power before one would go and sue? Seems logical to me! Then why is Speaker Boehner jumping the proverbial gun? Why?

.

APPEARENCES. Aye, there’s the rub! Living, as we do, in a visual and visceral society, Speaker Boehner need not wait for President Obama to do anything wrong, first. A good 20% to 22% of Americans already ‘see’ President Obama as ‘lawless’, so one need not actually wait for this President to do something wrong before hanging him out to dry. But… there is this nagging thought, in the back of my head.

.

Immigration Reform… Campaign Finance Reform…. V.A. Hospitals… Veterans Benefits… REAL WORK that needs to be done, left standing at the crib, while Speaker Boehner plays games with the Leaders of the House of Representatives.

.

This is worse than ‘Much Ado About Nothing’… This is an ‘abuse of power’ by… The Speaker!

.

Nuff said?

.

Adieu!

.

Thank YOU!

News From Around The World - June 11th, 2014

[caption id="attachment_2693" align="aligncenter" width="400"]News from Around the World News from Around the World[/caption]

.

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. As well, welcome to one of the most far-flung editions of ‘News From Around the World’ ever published! So far-flung that I start today as far as one can get, in outer space! That’s right; one of the biggest stories I have to share on this Wednesday is a story about out Sun. Yesterday NASA monitored two ‘X-Class Solar Flares’[1] erupting on the surface of our Sun. Only to be followed today, at 5:06AM EDT, with a third X-Class solar flare.

.

[caption id="attachment_3011" align="aligncenter" width="630"]Solar Surface Image 6-10-2014 Solar Surface Image 6-10-2014[/caption]

(Solar Surface Image 6-10-2014)

.

Now for a little science, and some explanation of the classification of solar flares, and the ‘X-Class’ of flares. Solar flares are categorized as A, B, C, M, or X. X being the strongest in output in ångströms. Then the X class is broken down further as; 1 to 9. So, you can have sun flares with designations like; A-1 (the lowest of the lows), B 1-9, C 1-9, and like yesterday and today’s flares X 1-10. These designations are made by determinations of data from the GOES Satellite[2] (Geostationary Satellite Server). Below are the three images of the ‘X-Class’ solar flares of June 10th and 11th.

.

[caption id="attachment_3013" align="aligncenter" width="630"]`Three ‘X-Class’ Solar Flares in 24 hours Three ‘X-Class’ Solar Flares in 24 hours[/caption]

(Three ‘X-Class’ Solar Flares in 24 hours)

.

All three of the monitored sun flares, yesterday and today, have all been of the ‘X’ class. Now, there are even higher classifications of sun flares, the “super X-class solar flares”. This classification ranges from X-10 Up! Therefore, when a solar flare goes higher than X-10 it does not get a new letter designation. It just goes higher in the number value, like ‘X-13’. Below is a moving image of an ‘X-13’ solar flare capture4d by NASA and GOES from 2003.

.

[caption id="attachment_3012" align="aligncenter" width="256"]Super X17 Solar Flare 2003 Super X17 Solar Flare 2003[/caption]

(Super X17 Solar Flare 2003)

.

Now, My Dear Readers, I do not want to instill panic among my readers. Therefore, let me explain the most important fact of all (of us on earth) is the direction the solar flare goes. You see even an ‘X-13 solar flare’ is only dangerous to us if the solar flare erupts, from the surface of the sun, in a trajectory (flight path) that will cross our orbital path. In other words, this is really only a major problem if the X-13 solar flare erupts from the sun and ends up striking the earth’s surface. In 2003 NASA’s GOES measured the ‘X-13’ solar flare I have pictured above, and life went on without taking much notice. Because the solar emission did not cross earth’s orbital path and/or strike the earth’s surface.

(June 10th 2014 X2-Part2 Solar Flare Crop)

.

Of course these gigantic solar flares always effect our radio wave transmissions, regardless of their trajectory. They are such a huge release of energetic energy, and radio waves, that these solar flares always effect the radio transmissions on the side of the earth that happens to be facing the sun, when they happen. You, My Dear , can always get information on the past and upcoming disturbances, and how/where they will disrupt radio transmissions, at NASA’s Space Weather Prediction Center[3]. Here is this morning’s notification:

.

2014-06-11 10:56 UTC Region 2087 picks back up

After producing a pair of R3 (Strong) Radio Blackouts in quick succession yesterday morning (10/1142 and 10/1252 UTC), active Region 2087 produced yet another R3 event today at 11/0906 UTC. Impacts from this activity were short lived and affected HF communications for the daylit side of Earth at the time of the flare. Continuing chances for more events R3 or greater events exists. Unlike yesterday, a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) is not believed to be associated with this latest impulsive event. A CME associated with the activity yesterday morning has been observed moving at a flank from Earth and a glancing blow to Earth from this event is expected on June 13. An outside chance of at most G1 (Minor) Geomagnetic storms remains in the forecast.

Stay tuned here for information on these events or additional space weather as it happens.”

.

The web site is regularly updated with the most recent information from the GOES and NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory[4]. As well, on the site linked in the previous sentence, you can see an image of our sun at any given moment. This site is also a great resource in tracking solar flares, and predictions of interruptions to radio transmissions. Between all the sites I have listed, in this article, you My Dear Readers can accurately track (in real time) any and all solar flares. I am sharing all this information to help dispel any fear and anxiety, that some might experience, hearing of these larger solar flare events. Knowledge is power, the power to understand and the power to control your reaction to news of this kind. Below is a video of the two ‘X-Class’ solar flares by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory.

.

[youtube=http://youtu.be/rRpxs39zn20]

.

As far as any of the information I have read, to the time of publication, none of these ‘X Class’ solar flares are set to do any harm to earth, or us. Now, understand that these energy pulses come in two waveforms. The first is radio waves and these happen (nearly) in real time. The disruptions to radio signals happens directly after the solar flare occurs on the sun’s surface. Then, there is the slower moving energy pulse, which moves at the speed of light. These energy pulses are set to arrive on June 13th, 14th and 15th. They are not anticipated to do any harm to our planet or its atmosphere.

.

.

This is all the information on these solar events that I have at this time (10:30AM PDT 6-11-2014). As they merit, I will update you My Dear Readers as needed. Now, on with ‘New From Around the World’!

.

We are all aware that Brazil is hosting the ‘World Cup 2014’ . If you have been following the daily games, then you have heard about the traffic jams. One such traffic jam, yesterday, resulted in Ross Barkley missing the first day of training with the English team.[5] However, today just might take the title as ‘Largest Traffic Jam in History’. That’s right in San Palo Brazil NBC is reporting a ‘214 MILE LONG traffic jam’! The image, below, is of the 214 traffic jam. You can read more on the NBC web site    .

.

.

Now, for the final story of today’s edition of ‘News From Around the World’ the upset loss of ® Rep. Eric Cantor at the polls in the Virginia primary, last night. Republican House of Representatives Majority Leader, Eric Cantor, has lost the Republican primary in Virginia last night. This has to be the single most unanticipated turn of events of the 2014 election cycle. Rep. Cantor lost his bid for the Republican nomination for his Congressional seat to a ‘Tea Party’ primary contender.

.

David Brat was that ‘Tea Party’ primary contender and lead Rep. Cantor to the very first time a ‘House Majority Leader’ has ever lost a primary. FYI My Dear Readers, if you know me on Facebook, then you have read me post on threads about candidates being ‘primaried’ (yes, that IS verbing a noun). What happened to Rep. Eric Cantor is being ‘primaried’. This is a huge loss for the Republican establishment, as Rep. Cantor was the #2 man (in the House) for the Republican Party. There is no one in the news media or up ‘On The Hill’ saw this coming.

.

The only answer anyone has, at this point, it that ® Rep. Eric Cantor was way too busy courting Wall Street and spending $140,000.00 on steak(s), and the night of the election he wasn’t even in his own district! To me, this has to be the best explanation and the simplest. No matter how high you may climb, if you forget the people (like you, My Dear Readers) that lifted you… you will loose. Let this be a lesson to us all, and one that I will not soon forget.

.

With that, My Dear Readers, we come to the end of the journey that was this weeks’ ‘News From Around the World’. We started in outer space with news from the sun. The news of the three ‘X-Class’ solar flares, that have erupted on the surface of the sun. Next, to San Palo, Brazil for the longest traffic jam in the history of man. Finally, to land back here in America for the single most surprising upset in the 2014 elections cycle. We have come a long way, in a short time, My Dear Readers.

.

I hope that you have enjoyed this week’s edition of ‘News From Around the World’ and I hope to see you right here, next week, for another edition!

.

Adieu!

.

Thank YOU!

The Republican Party of 2014, is there HOPE?

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Late in the day, on Wednesday of this week, I wrote an answer to a post of a very good friend on Facebook. Looking back, on this post, I realized that… either due to pain, or overwhelming need of sleep, I had managed to write a synopsis of a problem that has plagued our great Republic for more than a decade. Many times, over the past decade, I have tired and worked tirelessly to put to voice the root of this plague.

.

Either by chance or due to mental awareness unimpeded by restraint, I finally managed to put to voice something I had struggled with before. Below… I am sharing that posting. I do this… because not all of you, My Dear Readers, have me as a friend on Facebook and you might otherwise never see this synopsis of the plague of our great Republic.

.

Read and be informed. Read at your own risk;

.

The great divide, within the Republican party, will be huge fodder for; authors, historians, and writers of all stripes for generations. Let me explain their dynamic, in small words. Billionaires, with political axes to grind, took over the Republican party at the turn of the century. Talking heads, hired and supported by some of said billionaires, flooded airwaves with divisive hyperbolic rhetoric (focus group tested and created). The 'Radical Right' started running over moderates alienating any but the 'converted'. With tens of millions of dollars invested in; redistricting scams, voter suppression and the creation of the 'Tea Party'. (Yes, there is now proof the tea party was not created by grassroots movements as previously claimed), the Radical Right forced an extremist agenda on a once reasonable and 'Grand' party. With the help of the internet, Americans (mostly absent from politics for their entire lives) were drafted and given a 'voice'. They went to web sites and printed out their 'talking points', flooding town meetings in ever state. Within a decade the Republican party was split in twain, when Steele was replaced with Rance Prebius the extreme became the center and American politics saw a huge shift right... In the process the center was lost. Considered debate lost to one-side hyperbolic rhetoric. Compromise became a four lettered word, lines were drawn... in blood. Most non-partisan political watchers... bloggers... writers agree. America is more divided than any time since the Civil Rights movement... or the Civil War. America has lost its ability to reach a consensus. Lost the Unity that was so instrumental to our greatness. The 'War on Poverty' and compassion were replaced with overt greed, avarice, and a 'War ON the Poor'. Since the 20008 recovery 98% of all wealth generated has gone to the top 1-5%. The Middle Class has been more than decimated (to decimate is to reduce by 1/10, and often misused in media). I am one of few Americans with the courage to speak up about the horrible harm... done to our great Republic. WE are ALL guilty.... We LET this happen to the greatest Democracy in human history, handed down to US by the 'Greatest Generation'. One day... Americans WILL weep at what was lost and what we left them. 2014 Will look and sound like all the past elections. And I will cry.

.

Two points, in this posting, are salient points. First, we cannot, sitting in time where we do today, know how authors and historians will judge today’s political environment. However, if you can take a step away from ourselves, our own political beliefs and agendas, we might catch a glimpse of what will be written… in time. We must learn from the political mistakes of the past (at least) several years.

.

For the very first time in the history of our nation our Congress is gripped with intransigence. I have looked at the records, I have scoured the numbers. The last three sessions of Congress our House of Representatives has been ‘the least productive in history’! There have been years, during the Civil War and during World War Two, there were single years where, either due to the lack of members or sue to too many Representatives serving their country, a single year saw fewer bills passed into law.

.

However, NEVER BEFORE in the history of this great Republic has a Congress, specifically the House of Representatives been so gripped by political ideology that intransigence was so pervasive. Resulting in several sessions in a row being ‘the Least Productive in History’ through no fault of war, or civil unrest. This cannot stand, least America’s democracy fails. Congressmen, elected to serve in the House of Representatives are elected as LAWMAKERS.

.

When these duly elected Representatives fail to be lawmakers and, through the pursuit of political purity, choose instead to be seen as “law repealers” (Spoken by Speaker of the House John Boehner – Face the Nation 2014) we, all Americans, are forced into a crossroads. Shall we allow elected Congressional Representatives to violate the Constitution and their ‘Oath Of Office’ and merely draw a check, and do no work?

.

How, then, will history judge us? Not only will history, time, judge these intransigent and lawless Congressional representatives harshly, will they not truthfully judge us, too, as complacent with their lawlessness? This does not bode well for the continuation of our Constitutional Democracy. If duly elected Congressional Representatives are allowed intransigence by voters, how can our democracy function? Will this not set a precedent, where when ever a group of lawmakers collectively decide to hold the lower House in the grip of political ideology resulting in a democracy plagued by intransigence, will it not fail?

.

We, as a nation, cannot go without the rule of law. Nor can we go for any prescribed period of time without the writing of law, and rewriting of law whose time has passed? Aye, there’s the rub! For even if you are of the mistaken ideal that ‘there are too many laws’ how, then, can you reconcile your inaction with the tides of change the tirelessly flow through our society? Laws expire as the need for them wanes. How, then, can we undo, rewrite or prescribe new, when laws come to a point where their existence does more harm to a society, than good… If there not sufficient lawmakers willing to work to; rewrite, undo, repeal or prescribe new?

.

You see, My Dear Readers, there is where there sophomoric ‘reasoning’ fails horribly, and our great Republic right behind. This is why I bring to bear great arms against this wooly logic proffered by the political ideologists. They may grouse at my methods, they may taunt and insult me (personally) for my “attacks” but it is THEY that are the root of the plague. Why not should I attack, like an antibiotic or an antiviral, the very disease that plagues our great Republic?

.

I leave you with this, I fight against intransigence because I have the foresight to see that it is an attack on our very democracy! I will not stand idly by and allow my nation’s democracy, and the Republic, be attacked without defending with all my will and powers. To all those that would attack America with intransigence and political purity? I give you fair warning; I will take no prisoners I will show no mercy… no quarter! Be yea fair warned.

.

Addendum: Since I first penned this article, I have been catching up on my reading. Seems that the Tea Party is perched to “leave the GOP” as soon as the 2014 elections (just six months away). In state after state, moderate GOP candidates are drawing sistinct lines between themselves and the “radical policies” of their (used to be) Tea Party brethren. In Kentucky sitting Republican Senator Mitch McConnell (minority leader in the Senate) has brought his huge ‘War Chest’ to bear against is Tea Party primary contender. Matching his rhetoric with his actions Senator McConnell has issued a threat to all those Tea Partiers that would ‘primary’ mainstream GOP candidatures. Saying:

.

The goal is to deny them any Senate primary victories, cut into their fund-raising and diminish them as a future force in Republican politics. “I think we are going to crush them everywhere,” Mr. McConnell, the Senate Republican leader, said in an interview, referring to the network of activist organizations working against him and two Republican incumbents in Kansas and Mississippi while engaging in a handful of other contests. “I don’t think they are going to have a single nominee anywhere in the country.[1]

.

It is my (informed) opinion that IF (and that is a BIG ‘IF’) the GOP/Republican mainstream can surgically remove the Tea Party Cancer? It would be the single greatest achievement by Republicans (Mainstream Republicans and Moderate Republicans) in the past decade! Quite honestly the Tea Party is the reason that Republicans have yet to gain a majority in the Elder Congressional body, in contrast to holding the majority in the Lower House for three elections.

.

Further, IF the BOP can be successful in quashing all Tea Party primary entries, and replace Reince Priebus with… say, Michael Steel? That would signal the single greatest stabilization of the party, and a rebirth of the Grand Old Party. It is no secret that the Tea Party (lead and created by billionaires like the Koch brothers and other billionaire political amateurs) has cost the Republican party; TWO Presidential elections, the Majority in the Senate and THREE terms of the “Least Productive Congress in History”.

.

If the Tea Party were a single player, say, on a baseball team? They would have been cut from the team some time ago. Like this nutcase in Nevada, what’s his name… Cliven Bundy? You know, the nutcase that (until two days ago) Sean Hannity (at Fox) had crowned as the poster child for state’s rights, and “like the Founding Fathers”? Well, now Sean Hannity is doing just about anything (short of actually admitting the mistake he made, out of political expedience) to distance himself from Cliven Bundy, post racist remarks against African Americans.

.

SEE, right there that is the problem with the Tea Party and those (politically uninformed, or political rhetoric parrots) that make up the vocal part of the Tea Party. From “I’m not a witch” to this week’s “African Americans were better off as slaves” the kind of people that are self-described Tea Party members are generally unelectable. That is a fact that has cost the mainstream of the Republican Party dearly! I genuinely hope that the core of the Republican Party, the moderates that guided the party prior to the ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’ that was the ‘Tea Party Movement’, can remove the cancer. I hope that the Grand Old Party can be brought back to its former glory, take a stand in the ‘Center-Right’ of the political debate and begin again making compromises so that government can work!

.

So long as the extremists, the ideologues of the Tea Party that have thrown a monkey wrench into the inner workings of Washington, and labeled intransigence a “political victory” have the Republican Party by the short hairs our nation is at risk. For any democracy that simply cannot get the work of governance done, is a democracy headed for extinction. I have long said that “intransigence must be replaced with compromise” and that as long as “Republicans allow Freshmen Congressmen and Senators contorl the debate, is like letting the teenager in the house4 control the budget!” That quote, of mine, is from ‘Face the Nation’ and Bob Schieffer asked it of Senator Mitch McConnel, ironic that now he is trying to stop the Tea Party from winning any Republican primaries.

.

My Dear Readers, any thinking person can clearly come to the understanding that intransigence is no replacement for compromise, and that parroted hyperbolic rhetoric s no replacement for informed debate. PERIOD! I am just glad that someone finally took my advice and are ready to jettison the dead weight of the Tea Party. Kudos to Senator Mitch McConnel!

.

As always I am deeply honored that you come here and read my work.

.

Adieu!

.

Thank YOU!
