A Week in Review - August 2nd 2015

NASA's Curiosity Rover Inspects Unusual Bedrock
Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other ShoeI am quite happy to announce that this week I did manage to; research, write, edit, footnote and embed images into five articles. This is my benchmark for a ‘Good’ week. Now, what makes this week even better than ‘Good’ (for me) is that this week contained my thesis work on the ‘P5+1 Iran Nuclear Deal – JCPOA’ (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action)- ‘Iran Deal – Part Two’. This was a monumental task and was not possible without reading all 159 pages of the nuclear treaty. That, My Dear Shoevians, is a major accomplishment all by itself!
.
Really, if you were to give my articles weight according to length and composition, I published about ten articles this week. Today ‘A Week in Review’ is a day late, and there will not be an edition of‘Sunday Funnies’. I apologize for this whole in my regular publishing schedule, but I just had to take a few days’ break, after that thesis length article explaining the JPCOA. Now I am rested and, mostly, healed from that adventure and ready to move ahead.
.
As I mentioned, late last week, this coming week I have another ‘Journey to L.A.’ on Tuesday. I was hoping to write and put a few articles into the hopper, for publication while I am gone and recovering. However, I have been unable to accomplish that goal as of yet. I will make every effort, today and tomorrow, to put together some articles. If all else fails, I will make several “Press This’articles to fill in the week. Well, now that we are all caught up, I think that it is time to get the to heart of this article.
.
So, without further adieu I give you ‘A Week in Review’!
.
 Hey! I'm napping here!
  • Sunday Funnies – July 26th – Mohawk Rat – Redux – “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to a Redux of a recent 'Sunday Funnies' titled 'Mohawk Rat!'. In this video we can see Gryphon combing the fur on his head, after a recent bath. It looks like he is styling his fur into a Mohawk haircut. This will be the very first 'Sunday Funnies' to appear at my all new blog location. Hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend. Have a great Sunday!” This is my, by far, most favorite video (so far) by my newest little furry friend, Gryphon. ‘Mohawk Rat!’ Is something that all my little furry fellows have done, after taking a bath, but Gryphon really get into it! Every time I run this article, I see a real spike in traffic. This shows me that Gryphon is going to be a highlight to this blog, and a star all his won. ENJOY!

  • The Mars Report – July 27th, 2015 – “Our first image appears at the top of the article. This is an artist’s representation of NASA's Mars Odyssey spacecraft. This June the 23rd the Odyssey spacecraft made its 60,000th orbit over the Martian surface. Its orbiting began on October 23rd, 2001 and on December 15th, 2010 it became the longest orbiting spacecraft over Mars. My, notorious, last image of this edition was taken by Odyssey. An image will take your breath away.” My Dear Shoevians THIS was the very first article published at the new blog location, that was written and published, my original way. This is my most favorite article series, right up there with ‘Lost in Space’. My articles on space, and space exploration, have a special place in my heart. I hope that everyone takes a look at this edition, I put a lot of love into this work. ENJOY!

  •  Iran – War or Peace – Part One – Historic Relevance – “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Today (July 28th, 2013) with this article I will engage and inform you, My Dear Shoevians, in a way and a theater of discussion which we are unaccustomed. I, generally, refrain from writing and publishing articles about domestic and/or foreign policy. In specific a discussion on American foreign policy and/or international treaties and their content. However, the current ‘P5+1 Iranian Nuclear Deal’ is of such international and historic significance I would be completely socially remiss if I did not share my insights and opinion. Therefore, My Dear Shoevians, I beg your indulgence (this time) while I work to dispel harmful rhetoric, enhance broader understanding and engage the men and women of America and the international community. Thank you for your understanding and support.” This article was written after listening to the ‘talking heads’ of the Right/Far-Right trash-talk our President and this agreement for many days. What I found most surprising, and enlightening, was that many (if not most) had not taken the time to READ the agreement PRIOR to starting the trash-talk. Debate, without knowledge, is not debate… it is a sophomoric exercise in Orwellian rhetoric. I will engage anyone on the FACTS and MERITS of this, or any, agreement. However, to engage in a public dressing down of; this President, the Secretary of State, and ALL the LEADERS of the P5+1 (Germany, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, America and France) WITHOUT having read a single word! Well, I have a name for that ‘Ignorant Hyperbolic Rhetoric’. In this article I draw a historic parallel between President Reagan and the SALT agreements, with the U.S.S.R. (our NUCLEAR nemesis at the time) and how his actions were categorized and the same rhetoric being used against President Obama now over this agreement.
P5+1 Talks With Iran in Geneva, Switzerland
  • Iran Deal – Part Two – The Agreement – “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. As promised, today I am sharing with all of you the very TEXT of the ‘Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action’ aka the ‘P5+1 Iran Nuclear Agreement’. Today’s article has taken several days to complete. I do this out of a love of PEACE and the best possible future for our nation and its inhabitants. I do this for PEACE. … Now, without further adieu, I give you… … …” The single most important effort taken for PEACE in the first part of the Twenty-First Century. One-hundred-Fifty-nine pages of Treaty read –DONE! Treaty then researched and broken into digestible sections, DONE!  Written: THIRTY pages of; explanation, narrative, background, and breakdown of a very complex and exacting treaty, DONE! In this, 30 page, article I have attempted to address each and every concern that has surfaced since the announcement of this agreement. I have taken the hyper partisan hyperbolic rhetoric and put aside my ‘feelings’ and treated their (Uninformed = they have NOT R E A D the agreement) talking points with dignity and honor. Then, I went about proving that their fears are, just that, FEAR. ENJOY!
An artist’s illustration shows the pulsar just after having collided with the disk.
  • Chandra :: Photo Album :: PSR B1259-63 :: July 22, 2015 – “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. While doing a little late night, or early morning, searching through NASA/JPL web site I stumbled upon THIS incredible image. Taken by the Chandra X-Ray observatory in space, this image shows a "Chuck of debris" being jettisoned from a "double-star system" at incredibly high speeds. Now, when they say "Chuck of debris" this is actually a sizable amount of debris, as it is One Hundred times the size of our solar system!” While wandering around the web, one day, I stumbled upon the most incredible image I have ever seen. An Artist impression of a galactic occurrence of biblical proportions, so I just had to share! The images are from the ‘Chandra X-Ray Space Telescope’ they are of a pulsar shooting a galaxy-sized cloud of space debris through the orbit of a star! This is the very first time mankind has ever bore witness to a space occurrence of this magnitude. I would be completely remiss if I didn’t share it with YOU, MY Dear Shoevians. ENJOY!
.
With that, My Dear Shoevians, I bring this edition of ‘A Week in Review’ to a close, and this week’s publication to a close, as well. I do hope that everyone has enjoyed this week’s information and adventures. I will be back, next week, to share more and more of the world around us.
.
Adieu!
.
Thank you!

A Week in Review - July 25th, 2015

Charon's Ice Mountains Charon's Ice Mountains
 .
Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. As well, welcome to the very first 'A Week in Review' since our web blog upgrade to our very own site (http://theothershoe.co/ ). Making this a week of firsts this week is also a celebration of the most articles published in recent memory! Since Sunday July 19th, 2015 I have written and published... … … (drum roll, please!) … … … TWELVE that's right TWELVE articles here at The Other Shoe for all of you, My Dear Shoevians! We started on Sunday with the publication of the infighting between Donald Trump and Senator John MCCain, and worked our way through the week to Donald Trump picking a fight with Senator Lindsey Graham. Seems this showboating charlatan just cannot get along with anyone that is his elder and/or a Senator.
.
Thankfully that was not all this week was about. I covered topics ranging from a brand new species of dinosaur discovered in China and the 49th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon to discoveries made by NASA's Dawn spacecraft and NASA's New Horizons orbiter spacecraft. To say the least, this week has been chocked full of science and discoveries, mixed (lightly) with some showboating by Republican candidates. I just couldn't have picked a better week to launch and all new blog location! Thank you, reality, for providing much fodder for my writing and my blog!
.
However, My Dear Shoevians, the biggest surprise for me was the return of my original 'Primary' blog location, matched only by the fact that I was (thankfully) able to make all TWELVE publications “Quad-Blog Publications'! That's right, this week was host to a whole group of publications that appeared at all four of my current blog locations. Not to get ahead of myself (later next week... or the week after, I will be publishing an whole article about the blog traffic, since my purchase of the new URL) but on one day between all four blogs I had over ONE HUNDERED Visitors! That makes for a real record for my blogs... at least for this year. . Since the first day of my first article published at The Other Shoe (at Blog Dot Com) I have wanted to have that many visitors in one day. Of course, as the week went on, and my old primary location crashed... again, and again... that number decreased. However, I am not discouraged because I know that the problems will pass, my work will continue, and you, My Dear Shoevians, will help me break more and more visitation records in the coming weeks, months and years.
.
This is a 'Good Thing' for me, and my long term goals, for all of my longtime readers... my dearest My Dear Shoevians know that my goal is the publication of one or more of my novels. These blogs are a way of building name (and brand) recognition, honing my; writing, editing and publishing skills and learning just what people want to read. These blogs are doing just that, and so much more. . Well, now that we have all of that out of the way... I guess that it is time for 'A Week in Review' for July 25th, 2017.

Uncovering the secrets of the Quintuplet Cluster Uncovering the secrets of the Quintuplet Cluster
  • Hubble Uncovering the Secrets of the Quintuplet Cluster | NASA - Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. I am still busy at work preparing this all new blog location for your enjoyment, there were some happenings that I just should not let pass us by! I will, hopefully, returning to a more regular publishing schedule on Monday July, 20th 2015. Until then I will do my best to keep you updated with all the news and happenings. Stay tuned for greatness! With the publication of this article, my brand new adventure with my all new URL for The Other Shoe started. This was a very brief article, but I was still getting used to the new ways I am able to write and publish with this new site. This was a beautiful beginning to a great week!
Pluto is Dominated by the Feature Informally Named the “Heart” Pluto is Dominated by the Feature Informally Named the “Heart”
  • New Horizons Discovers Frozen Plains in the Heart of Pluto’s ‘Heart’- “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. This article is just the first in a series of articles I have planned for later this week. You can look for all new editions of 'Lost in Space' starting Monday. These images will be beaming to earth for the next 16 months. You need go NO further than right here at The Other Shoe for all your news and images from the New Horizons orbiter.” Another very short article... but some of the most incredible images I have ever shared on my blogs. You will shortly see that as the week progresses, so does the length of my articles increases.
Republican Presidential Candidates Address 2015 Family Leadership Summit
Republican Presidential Candidates Address 2015 Family Leadership Summit
  • GOPers denounce Donald Trump amid fiery feud with John McCain - “"Donald Trump said on Saturday that GOP Sen. John McCain of Arizona was “not a war hero” because he had been taken prisoner by the Vietcong, prompting a firestorm of criticism from Republican leaders.“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said during an onstage Q&A at the conservative Family Leadership Summit, an event that features a number of Republican presidential contenders. “He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured, okay?” And the flames of hyperbolic rhetoric shoot from the face of 'The Donald'. Not content to attack an American War Hero, later in the week 'The Donald' begins his attack of Senator Lindsey Graham... which I cover here at The Other Shoe!
Republican Presidential Candidates Address 2015 Family Leadership Summit

  • Trump offers no Apologizes for McCain War Record Attack- “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Well, it is now Sunday, and for those of us that are of a political persuasion, it is time for the Sunday morning Political Talk Shows. On today's edition of 'This Week' Donald Trump doubled down of his comments from Saturday at the 'Family Leadership Summit'. Pushing Senator McCain even further claiming that the Senator "owes them an apology" for referring to some of McCain's voters as "crazies".As I have stated, time and time again, this kind of hyperbolic and hyper partisan rhetoric is not what the majority of Americans want to hear, want to witness, and will not vote for. I have no idea why Donald Trump keeps attacking the senior Senator from Arizona, but my guess is that he believes it will bolster his polling numbers and put distance from him and Jeb Bush. My two cents? I have a feeling that this just might backfire on Trump and force a further divide within the Republican party. With Republicans already fractured, this is not what the RNC or Republican mainstream candidates want.” NOW we can see that I am getting back more into the swing of writing and publishing with the new site, and the new site software. As the week progresses you will see that I am back to publishing articles of the same length and nature of my previous works!
Image: Sen. Bernie Sanders Holds Town Hall And Rally In Phoenix, Arizona
  • Bernie Sanders Draws Largest Crowds Yet in Phoenix - “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. I am just getting my footing, at my all new web site, and with this election cycle and I have realized that I have not give Senator Bernie Sanders enough ink. (Well... honestly... any ink... at all) That changes right now! With this article I launch my coverage of the campaign of Bernie Sanders for President. :)” This is my very first article covering the Presidential Campaign of Bernie Sanders. It will not be my last, and I hope that I do his run for office, justice!
Dawn Orbiter Maps Ceres Dawn Orbiter Maps Ceres
  • Dawn Maneuvering to Third Science Orbit - “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. While working up some more great images from the New Horizons of Pluto I ran across this great article about the Dawn mission, currently mapping Ceres. Ceres, you might remember, was all in the news right before New Horizons started sending historic images back from Pluto. If you look over the right hand sidebar, you will see a rotating image of Ceres. Currently Dawn has descended to an altitude of 2,400 feet from the surface of Ceres.” Now, My Dear Shoevians, you can begin (with this article) to see the return of my writing style and how I have many images in each and every article. By the Friday publication I have returned to my original style and content structure. Thanks for hanging in there, as I got used to the new site and software.
Astronaut Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., lunar module pilot, descends the steps of the Lunar Module ladder July 20, 1969 as he prepares to walk on the Moon. Astronaut Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., lunar module pilot, descends the steps of the Lunar Module ladder July 20, 1969 as he prepares to walk on the Moon.
  • 46 Years Ago Apollo 11 Landed on the Moon! - “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Today is a historic day, for all Americans, for this is the day that (forty-six years ago) Edward 'Buzz' Aldrin, and Neil Armstrong landed in the surface of the Moon. Fellow astronaut, Michael Collins, remained in the Command Module as these two intrepid astronauts achieved, for mankind, what no other people or nation had. The top image is of the three headed to the Apollo 11 rocket in Cape Canaveral Florida. It took three short days for the three to make the 238,900 miles (384,400 km) journey from Earth orbit to Lunar orbit."  THIS! This article is my return to regular style and format for my articles. As well, I share more personal insights into the time period, who I shared this experience with, how old I was and how the memories still stay with me. This article really did take me back to 1969... and my father and I sharing this adventure together.
Zenyuanlong - Konglong Dinosaur Zenyuanlong - Konglong Dinosaur
  • China Discovers Winged, Feathered 'Dragon' - “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. I was wandering around the internet, when I stumbled upon this very interesting article about an all new dinosaur species. The picture, at the top of this article, shows what scientists think, is how this dinosaur looked 125 million years ago. The following images are of the actual discovery, the fossilized remains of the konglong dinosaur.” This article I just brought more images and less text. I was working to put something of interest up as quickly as possible. My traffic was incredible, and I wanted to see if I could keep the traffic numbers UP!
Pluto and Charon Shine in False Color Pluto and Charon Shine in False Color
  • Lost in Space - New Horizons Reaches Pluto - “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe and the very first article I have written and published in nearly a month! Briefly, I have been plagued… terribly plagued with pains all over my body. From the base of my head all the way down into my arms and hands and now into my thighs and legs. MY spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease has worsened, greatly. I am completely unable to sit up on the side of my bed and writing/publishing. I simply can not last long enough to do research or gather images for a single article (anywhere from six to fourteen images per article).” This article was a genuine 'Gargantuan' article for the new blog location. With more than twelve images, fourteen footnotes and over sixteen pages long (in Word) I went the extra mile for the very FIRST edition of 'Lost in Space' to appear on all FOUR blog locations. FYI this article took three days and over fifteen hours to write, edit, upload, and embed images and publish. I had a hard time sleeping the night I published it... because of the pain it caused. Oh well... The price one pays for publishing a great article, right?
Varsity Gamers Get Scholarships
Varsity Gamers Get Scholarships
  • Varsity Gamers: Making History and Dumbfounding Parents - “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. While rummaging through the 'news of the day' I ran across this article at CNN. Seems gamers, just like myself, are now getting scholarships to college by just playing games... very well. This phenomenon is a boon to gamers of all walks of life, as the following story shows.” This is another 'Drop-In' article by me using the 'Press This' button I have installed on all my computer browsers. This allows me to just 'drop-in' an article that I have found without going through all the hassles that I did before my new blog software. This was a very pivotal article, for me and all gamers, when we can finally get a scholarship based on our gaming prowess!
Senator Lindsey Graham
Senator Lindsey Graham
  • Lindsey Graham has Comeback for 'The Donald' - “ In my defense... I just couldn't help myself. The 'theatrics' of this whole Republican primary cycle has appealed to the actor in me. Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Today I depart from my more serious fare, and share with you an article and a video that, well, it just tickled my funny-bone. In hopes that, you too, need a laugh today... here is the most recent clap trap from the bitter fight between Donald Trump and Senator Lindsey Graham. (FYI it comes in the form of a video)” This is the second article in the series of Donald V Lindsey. Shortly after the release of his video, Donald stopped picking on Senator Lindsey Graham, and started picking on Governor Rick Perry. It appears that unless Donald is picking on someone, he really has nothing to say... like he really ever does! LOL
Kepler Discovery Kepler Discovery
  • NASA finds 'Earth's Bigger, Older Cousin' - “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Well if this isn't welcome news, then I have no idea what is! NASA's Kepler spacecraft has discovered the very first closest 'earth-like' planet ever. Situated in the constellation Cygnus a mere 500 light-years away. This planet is no more than a 10th larger than our Earth. With a rotational year of 385 days per year, and a gravity just about twice that of our Earth.” This is/was my final article for the week of July 19th, 2015. This article was mostly a hybrid in form and format. My Dear Shoevians I am still working the bugs out of my new site and software, please hang in there while I get back to bringing you the content you like, in the form and format you are accustom.
.
With that, My Dear Shoevians, we bring this week's edition of 'A Week in Review' to a close. I have to be completely honest. Writing, editing and publishing twelve articles did take a lot out of me. I am not so sure I will be able to keep up that same pace, week after week. I have enjoyed sharing all the different topics and content. Sharing images from New Horizons and Dawn to newly discovered Dinosaurs in China! . THIS is the type and range of content I have always longed to deliver to you, My Dear Shoevians. This coming week I will have somewhat less time, with an upcoming 'Trip to L.A.!'

Then, the next week, there will be the 'Trip to L.A.!” And you can expect to not see me for several days. That trip takes a terrible toll on my body, my neck and back. I am in severe pain and suffering for anywhere from 48 to 72 hours. I hope that I have time to put some content in a hopper, so I have have it automatically publish.
.
My Dear Shoevians this brings us to the very end of this article, and the very end of this week's publications. I hope that you have enjoyed the ride, as much as I enjoyed providing the content for you. . As always... If you have enjoyed your time here? Be sure to 'Like' and 'Share' my work with friends, family and coworkers. Let them have the same enjoyable adventure that you have found in these pages. . Adieu! . Thank you!

A Week in Review - May 10th, 2015

.

Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. I have to openly admit, this week was fraught with pain and problems! Mid-week I was struck with some terrific pain, all through my neck and into my arms and head. I tried sleeping it away, I tried soaking it away and all to no avail. Finally, I just settled in for a long hard ride and decided to do as little as I could around the house… … … and to let the blogs… sit. THAT was a very difficult decision, My Dear Shoevians.

.

After a seven month absence I was seeing traffic numbers, for a week’s time, up to One Hundred Nineteen!!! That translates to a yearly traffic of well over SIX THOUSAND!!!!! That is some serious traffic numbers to take to a publisher… with a truly original and touching novel in hand. It wasn’t easy but I took Tuesday and Wednesday off. I re-published my Hubble’s 25th Anniversary’ on Wednesday, then it happened.

.

This happens every six to eight months, at my location at blog dot com, the whole bloody web site just crashes! So, I wait and wait and wait. GONE for three days! I did not ‘see’ my primary blog location for three days, until today! So, here I am trying my hardest to play catch-up with the missed publication of the ‘Traffic Reports’ band now this ‘A Week in Review’. Now, I am tired and hurting all over again. But this will pass. I have to manage to finish this weekly review, and then publish ‘Sunday Funnies’ before it is no longer Sunday!

.

So, without further adieu, I give you ‘A Week in Review – May 10th, 2015’!

.

  • Sunday Funnies – Gryphon’s Premiere! – “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Today is a extra special edition of ‘Sunday Funnies’! Today I would like to ask you, My Dear Shoevians, to join me in Welcoming Gryphon D. Hannning (click on the hyperlink to go to Gryphon’s Facebook Page!) to this storied article series. As most of you are aware… … … Alexander R. Hanning passed away, several weeks ago, after a long battle with failing health. I made him as comfortable as possible, prepared all his favorite foods, and held him 24/7 for his comfort. He was loved deeply, and will be even more deeply missed. Last edition of ‘Sunday Funnies’ was a homage to Alexander.” This, My Dear Shoevians, was a very difficult article for me to write and publish. You see, it was an end, of sorts. An end to the era of Alexander R. Hanning as the star of ‘Sunday Funnies’ and the beginning of an all new era of Gryphon D. Hannning as the new star. I never do well with endings… of anything, but especially of the furry little ones I come to care for and love. There will never be a day… a time when I stop thinking of Alexander. He had that big an impact on my life, my work, my soul. It was Alexander that was at my side when I was diagnosed with cancer. It was Alexander that was at my side when I came home after chemotherapy. It was Alexander that stayed by my side when I got sick, and was there no matter what happened. However, this article was the premiere for another furry friend, Gryphon D. Hannning. This is Gryphon’s premiere video and premiere edition of ‘Sunday Funnies’. I hope that everyone stopped by to enjoy his premiere and his antics. Enjoy!

  • The Mars Report – May 4th, 2015 – “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Today marks the beginning of my third week back at; researching, writing, editing and publishing here at The Other Shoe. That is an important milestone for me, as just a few months ago (about mid-way through my chemotherapy treatments) I wondered if I would ever return to writing and publishing again. Well, not at all, what I mean is I doubted that I would ever again publish on a regular schedule again. Now, here I am two weeks past and over a dozen articles under my belt since my ‘The Rebirth and Re-Launch of The Other Shoe’ article of April 13th, 2015.” It was this Gargantuan edition of ‘The Mars Report’ that I think put me over the edge and into a world of hurt. The singles largest edition, with the most images, the most conetnet and the most science ever! If you haven’t looked at this edition, you should! Enjoy!

  • Lost in Space – Hubble’s 25th – Redux – “So good, worth republishing today! I’m taking a day of R&R, here’s a wonderful celebration of Hubble’s 25th anniversary. Enjoy! Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Today is Wednesday April 22nd, 2015 and when I started the research for this article I quickly became aware that today is the 25th Anniversary of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope! What a glorious day to pay tribute to this wonder of the modern age, by sharing some of the most recent images captured by Hubble.” With the pain in my neck reaching new levels of blinding pain, I decided to give myself a day to rest and recover. Little did I know that the primary blog location would take this opportunity to go AWOL! Nevertheless, this edition is/was worth republishing, so I did! ENJOY!

.

  • Traffic Reports – May 7th, 2015 “Now that I have the news out of the way, let me get to the meat of this article. As many of you, My Dear Shoevians, know about every six months I publish a ‘Traffic Report’. Now, I do this for many reasons, not the least of which is that I enjoy sharing the limited success of my writing. Yes, I work hard at; research, writing, editing and publishing at The Other Shoe. When I see the traffic counter on the Blog Dot com location stay over one hundred for a week or more… YES I am very very proud! That has occurred over the past two weeks.” This was a very enlightening edition of ‘Traffic Reports’. Whereas I did see the corresponding decline in readership during my chemotherapy, if you don’t publish new content, readers go elsewhere, that is a given. However, there is ‘Good News’ in this report, too! Good news in the discovery of even more expanded international readership! THAT is very ‘Good News’ indeed! If you need a reason to read this article, learning that My Dear Shoevians live in; England, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands and evern RUSSIA should do the trick, eh? Read and be informed!

.

That, My Dear Shoevians, brings us to the end of this article and the end of the week’s publishing. I hope that everyone takes some time, out of your Sunday, to go back and read and view some of the wonderful work and images I shared this past week. Again, I apologize for the absence, made even longer by the down time at the primary blog location. I am back, and I have a “Sunday Funnies’ yet to publish, today.

.

I regret to inform you that this week is my ‘Quarterly Visit To L.A.’ and my primary care physician, Dr. Laurence Gorlick. This journey into L.A., and back, takes a great deal out of me. It is a journey that takes, Allen and I, more than twelve hours of transit van rides to get into Rancho Palos Verde, and back here to Orange County. I will do my best to keep up my writing schedule, I just cannot make any promises I might not keep.

.

Thank you!

.

Adieu!

A Week in Review - May 2nd, 2015

.

Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. This week was a rather light week for writing, as I was experiencing increased pain and more limited mobility. I always strive to publish between four and seven articles, each and every week. This week (including this article) I published the minimum of four articles. Honestly I was surprised at this fact when it came time, today, to prepare this weekly review. I know that I missed the publication of ‘The Mars Report’ on Monday, and I think that put me behind the eight ball for the rest of the week.

.

Looking back, which it what I do on Saturdays, I now can see where I pushed much too hard on one article (early in the week) and that left me in pain for days afterward. ‘The Death of American Exceptionalism’ was the article that put me in so much pain, and put me behind schedule. When you look at the numbers, it is easy to see why. Written in Word that article stretched through twenty-four pages and weighed in at over 5,500 words! I didn’t realize that, until just now when I ran the word count in Word. J

.

I really should have known better than to tackle a editorial piece of that length so shortly after returning to writing and publishing. Oh well, a lesson learned the hard way is a lesson not soon forgot. Right? Honestly, to help put that into perspective? My average article weighs in at about 1,700 to 2,000 words. This week’s ‘New from Around the World’ weighed in at 1,700 words and just eight pages in length. Ok, My Dear Shoevians, I will not do that again and put all my eggs into one basket. I assure you that you can look forward to an all new edition of ‘The Mars Report’, ‘Lost in Space’, News from Around the World’, Sunday Funnies’ and ‘A Week in Review’ in this upcoming week.

.

Now, without further adieu… I give you ‘A Week in Review’ for the week of April 26th, 2015!

  • The Death of ‘American Exceptionalism’ : “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. It is with a heavy heart, and with much trepidation, I write this article and bring it to you, My Dear Shoevians. The title, alone, took me weeks to… discover. While I wanted to draw in readers, I felt a responsibility to convey the seriousness of the problem, without scaring readers away. I am a proud American, proud Texan, and proud journalist. I cannot tell you just how many times, in any given day, these three convictions clash. It is more times, in a given day, than I find comfort.” Writing this article was far more difficult than I imagined during research. Yes, as I mentioned above, it was more painful than I could have ever imagined, but that is not the only pain I experienced. It pained me personally… as an American to challenge a “life-Long’ perception of the nation and people I love. Growing up in Texas (the ‘Buckle of the Bible Belt’) from the late 50’s through the 70’s I was raised with the perception that America excelled at everything! Researching this article… that illusion was dashed to the ground. It is not that America was ‘never’ exceptional, it is that over the past fifteen years a shift in our priorities, and a corresponding shift in wealth and opportunities into the hands of the few (in many cases the very few = 0.2%). This unprecedented shift of; wealth, opportunities, education, and even food has precipitated a downward spiral. America’s youth have fallen from (as recently as the 90’s) from the top 10th percentile to 25th to 36th in the world. Our Middle Class have been squeezed out of existence by a meager 0.2% increase in income over the past decade. Fewer and fewer of our high school graduates can go to college, because fewer and fewer parents can afford the expense and/or debt load.

  • Lost in Space – The Messenger Mission : “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Today I am excited to bring you a Special Edition of ‘Lost in Space’. The ‘Messenger’ mission! NASA’s Messenger ((MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, GEochemistry, and Ranging) mission was launched August 3rd, 2004. The Messenger spacecraft traveled 4.9 billion miles, including; 16 trips around the sun, two around Venus, and one fly-by of Earth, settled into orbit around Mercury in 2011.” I must admit that until I started my research, for this article, I was mostly unfamiliar with NASA’s Messenger mission and spacecraft. That is no longer the truth, in a big way! Launched August 3rd, 2004 (I was distracted by the loss of my best job ever and growing neurological problems and deficits)Messenger traveled 8 billion miles to arrive at Mercury and send back to mankind the most incredible images ever seen by human eyes. In this article I have done my best to give you My Dear Shoevians a good overview of its mission at Mercury. However, I was forced to leave out all the; images, encounters and scientific discoveries Messenger made during its eleven year journey of discovery. I hope that one day soon I will be able to devote another edition of “Lost in Space’ to the Messenger mission and share even more of its accomplishments. Until that time, drop by and give this article a good read and enjoy the incredible images from Messenger of Mercury!

  • News from Around the World – May 1st, 2015 : “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. IT is Friday, May 1st, 2015 and this is the very first edition of ‘News From Around the World’ in a very long time. I always enjoyed writing and publishing this article series. It took my mind off of the political works I was engaged, and the acrimonious tone of ‘Conservative’ rhetoric. As well, it helped me keep in touch with the happenings outside the borders of our great nation. Sometimes, it is difficult for us Americans to admit, or to realize, that we are but one nation among many. But one voice in the symphony of human thought and action that is the human experience.” This edition of ‘News from Around the World’ was a big departure, for me. Usually I tackle three to five different stories from three to five different parts of the world. However, when I started my research for this week’s edition… one story kept jumping in my path. NEPAL! The horrific earthquake that struck the Katmandu Valley of Nepal captured my attention, and my heart. The immense suffering, the terrible loss and the overwhelming scenes of devastation were unlike any I have seen in my lifetime. I was so deeply moved I had no choice but to focus the entire edition on this subject, and the cumulative attentions of all of you, My Dear Shoevians. I tried my hardest to not appear to capitalize on their suffering, but to merely relay the extent of the devastation and the depth of their loss and grief. At the end of the article I provide links to several aid organizations for you, My Dear Shoevians, to use if you are of the mind.

.

With that, My Dear Shoevians, I bring this week’s edition of ‘A Week in Review’ to a close. It is early Saturday morning, and I hope to get some much needed rest, before I start on tomorrow’s edition of ‘Sunday Funnies’. I hope to see you al right here, tomorrow, for Gryphon’s premier right here in the pages of tomorrow’s ‘Sunday Funnies’. Until lthen…

.

Thank you!

.

Adieu!

A Week in Review - April 26th, 2015

.

Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. First, let me apologize for the tardy nature of this article. Most weeks I, regularly, publish this weekly review on Sunday. However, this Sunday I was knee-deep in the publication and promotion of my first and best political editorial article in many months. Titled ‘Clinton-Hate Syndrome – Diagnosis and Cure’ the article outlines the dubious nature of three of the most popular ‘scandals’ to infect our national political dialogue. I say “infect” because… well, as I explain in the article I am genuinely convinced that Americans (well, a small ‘sect’ of Americans) are falling prey to a type of “linguistic virus”.

.

When infected, the virus attacks the neural pathways associated with reason and common sense. This, thereby, renders the listener incapable of discriminating propaganda from 'news'. Subjects find themselves in a highly suggestible state, so the loudest and angriest voice can overpower their critical thinking skills. This is a theory that I have been working on for a good many years and discovered during observations on Facebook and other social media. So far, I am pretty much the lone wolf with this theory, however, I am quite bereft to (otherwise) explain the actions of many intelligent and good-hearted Americans I have known for years.

.

You, My Dear Shoevians, can read this article by clinking on the link above… or here: ‘Clinton-Hate Syndrome Diagnosis and Cure’. I had really hoped to present ‘A Week in Review’ on time but found myself in the middle of a vortex of real time developments in the most recent ‘Clinton-Hate’ motivated ‘scandal’. You might know it as the ‘Clinton Cash’ scandal, so named after the unpublished book of the same name. Authro, of said work, was on ‘This Week’ on Sunday where he repeatedly admitted that he has no evidence whatsoever of any wrong doing on the part of the Clintons, but feels (regardless of the FACTS) that there “must be an investigation”.

.

Perhaps he feels this way because he knows that in an election of this magnitude the appearance of impropriety in just as damning as proof. A self-described ‘Conservative’ write, I am sure that he is fully aware that many prominent Republicans have stated their party has little chance against a Hillary Clinton run for the Presidency. This has been spoken by everyone from Newt Gingrich to Jeb Bush, in one form or another. How better to level the playing field than to smear an upstanding life-long public servant that with a dubious and unsupported (by facts) ‘cash for influence’ scandal.

.

Now, that is enough of that topic for the moment, on with ‘A Week in Review’. I am very proud to announce that, in the previous week, I manage to write, edit and publish another Five articles here at The Other Shoe. That makes two weeks running I have managed to hit my mark uninterrupted. Not so sure about the upcoming weeks, as I have several unavoidable doctor appointments and scans that I must attend. With that in mind I would like to begin our look backward over the past week of publications.

.

Without further adieu, I give you ‘A Week in Review’!

  • Sunday Funnies – Homage to Alexander R Hanning“Welcome back My Dearest Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Today, as promised, I am here to present… to honor the lifetime’s contributions of Master Alexander R. Hanning. Most of you, My Dear Shoevians, and the world first met Alex right here in an edition of ‘Sunday Funnies’. I had the privilege and honor of knowing, and loving, this great rat his entire life. Starting to research this article, and put together images of Alex at many ages, I almost lost it. I would start to cry… then weep at his passing and my loss.” My Dear Shoevians it still just slays me, each and every time I think of him… see videos of him… pictures of him… or think of him. Alexander has left a HUGE HOLE in my soul… and it pains me to no end. Gryphon is working hard to fill the void… he is very dear to me, already, and plays with me every morning without fail. This one is the hardest… since Nakita. It pains me so…

  • The Mars Report – April 20th, 2015 – “On April 16th 2015, the 957th Martian day, just days ago Curiosity past the ten kilometer (6.214 mile) mark on its trek on the Martian surface. Arriving at Pahrump Hills the rover Curiosity took an incredible panoramic image. Below we can see this panoramic image, taken by the Navcam (Navigational Camera), this shows us the sandy floored valley Curiosity must pass through next. This path will take Curiosity higher on Mount Sharp for further excavation, experimentation and some more incredible images of the Martian surface.” The publication of this edition of ‘The Mars Report’ comes hot on the heals of a major accomplishment for the Curiosity rover as it has just reached the Ten Kilometer point in its sojourn on the Martian surface. Further, I discuss the recent discovery of Nitrogen on the Martian surface and a field of veins of minerals on the surface. I you have not already read and viewed this edition, I suggest you take the link (at the beginning of this article) and check out this edition, NOW!

  • Lost in Space – Hubble’s 25th Anniversary – “Welcome back My Dear Shoevians to The Other Shoe. Today is Wednesday April 22nd, 2015 and when I started the research for this article I quickly became aware that today is the 25th Anniversary of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope! What a glorious day to pay tribute to this wonder of the modern age, by sharing some of the most recent images captured by Hubble.” In a week filled with space-based accomplishments, this edition of ‘Lost in Space’ marked the 25th Anniversary for the Hubble Space telescope! I am very glad that I had decided to restart my blog at this perfect time. How better to restart and energize my publication than with two milestones in two separate articles series? This is a ‘Must SEE’ edition of ‘Lost in Space’ where I breakdown the work of Hubble into the three categories NASA uses to evaluate scientific achievement and progress.

  • Alive and, well… ? – Danny Update – “Below is a short video that I recorded today. I made this video to show all of you, My Dear Shoevians, that I am alive and still all in one piece. Right now, at 2:15PM PDST I am uploading the video for publication just as soon as possible. I am hoping to have this article, and the accompanying video, ready for viewing by 3:00PM PDST (that would be 5PM Central –Texas Time). Right now, it looks as though I will be able to keep this schedule.’ As explained, above, this is an article including a short personal update video I made. I was beginning to become aware of my physical limitations… still am fighting that demon!

  • ‘Clinton-Hate Syndrome’ – Diagnosis and Cure – “Today, in the paragraphs below, I will explain to everyone just how to diagnose yourself, and others, of this terrible socially transmitted disease, and (ultimately) how to treat and CURE this malady. However, before I discuss the personal symptoms of this terrible disease (the diagnosis), and the cure for ‘Clinton-Hate Syndrome’ I am going to discuss the source of this socially-transmitted’ disease. For the majority of Americans discovering the source of this terrible socially transmitted disease is easy to see.” A very unique piece, even by my standards. Whereas I post the starting article for three of the most recent ‘Clinton Scandals’, I go even further to debunk them as the partisan (hyper partisan) fact-void rhetoric that they are all proved (in the end) to be. Right before my eyes, as I researched this article, I watched as the newest ‘Clinton Scandal’ became unraveled right before my eyes. The ‘Clinton Cash’ scdanal is already being debunked by; NBC, ABC< and CBS as a partisan (poor) attempt to tie efforts by (then) Sec. Clinton to work done by the ‘Clinton Foundation’. The author of the unpublished work, ‘Clinton Cash’ openly admits to having “no real evidence of wrongdoing..” but still seeks an investigation!?!? Obviously a clear-cut case of ‘Clinton-Hate Syndrome’. Be sure to check out this article, as it contains FACTUAL EVIDENCE… and a very humorous ending. ENJOY!

.

With that My Dear Shoevians I bring this week’s edition of ‘A Week in Review’ to a close. I hope that everyone has enjoyed this week’s review, and the wonderful articles that made up its content. It is my hope to entertain, inform, and delight my readers. If, by some chance, you are educated during your visit… all the better. J

.

Now, for a little timely editorial. As I sit here putting the finishing touches on this article? I am bearing witness to the real time looting of a CVS in Baltimore, Maryland. The view is from a helicopter, a media ‘news’ chopper, and I wonder if these… ‘individuals’ are aware that their actions are being capture on video for all time? I watch as one young woman records the actions of her friends… on her cellular phone. Is she aware that, too, is a crime?

.

The repeated murder of African American men, and young men, by (predominately) white law enforcement officers is… grotesque and unthinkable. However, just how does the African American community think the sight of their young people looting A CVS… help their cause. Engender the national community to their side? Curious and curiouser.

.

Thank you!

.

Adieu!
