A Week in Review - February 8th, 2014

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. This week was an adventurous week, as it is every three months. I have a quarterly appointment with my primary care physician. He is located in Los Angeles County, Rolling Hills Estates. You can read all about it in the article linked below ‘Danny Update – Medical February 4th, 2014’. I have made this journey, now, four times. It is getting easier, each time.

.

This article is not about this journey. This article is my weekend review of all the work I did manage to get accomplished. Actually, I am pretty darn impressed that I managed to publish as much as I did, this week. Usually, the week of my twelve-hour journey, I only get one or two articles published. Part of the reason, I feel, is that my doctor finally upgraded my pain medications. This has allowed me relief from pain, more often. As well, I am desperate to keep writing… as I am hoping that if I write… someone… will… help.

.

Either way, and without further adieu, here it ‘A Week in Review’:

.

  • ·        Sunday Funnies – February 2, 2014 : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. As I always say; “If it is Sunday, then it is time for ‘Sunday Funnies’ at The Other Shoe! Of late, I am doing my best to catch Alexander R Hanning while he is doing some of things that endear him to me. He; Hops, Skips, Jumps and other kinds of festive moving, that express his happiness with being my son. He does these most when he has woken up, in bed with me and after he has eaten some human food he enjoys.” Alexander talks more and more often than any other rat I have ever owned. He talks longer, and I swear… he listens and then replies. Sometimes he gets so into what he is saying, that his whole head bobs in an exaggerated fashion. Alexander wants to talk to me. Even though he does not say words (he has no lips), I can tell what he wants to communicate… most of the time. Rats understand our language, by listening to inflection and recognizing patterns. Just like dogs and cats. I am working to get more and longer videos of Alexander talking. Look forward to seeing them here, soon. Tomorrow (Sunday) you will get to see Alexander PLAY!

  • ·        Danny Update-Medical February 5th 2014 : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. First, I would like to “Thank you!” to everyone that came by last week, and the week before. I am not sure if you all noticed, but? I now have several articles with 45 ‘Likes’ and that hasn’t happen in a month of Sundays! Thank you for all of the ‘Likes’ and Shares and mentions to friends and family. You have no idea just how Good I feel when I see all the traffic and all of the ‘Likes’. It makes my day, or week.” I really do hope that I can repeat the level, quantity and quality of work I produced last week. Not often have I seen that many articles with that many ‘Likes’ in one week. I am gratified and deeply moved by that large a show of appreciation by you, My Dear Readers. Now, I understood that this week was going to be slower. There is just no way humanly paossible for me to prepare for my visit, spend a day away, and recover and still get that much work done, of that quality. I am proud of the work I have accomplished this week, don’t get me wrong. It is just… well, when I see, like, 45 likes on SEVERAL articles in one week? I am very happy… and I think that I actually might (some day, soon) be able to make some money with my writing. Thank you for putting that smile on my face, My Dear Readers.

  • ·        The TRUTH About CBO Report and the ACA: “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Just yesterday headlines of many web based ‘news’ and media outlets blasted the ‘Affordable Care Act’ (aka Obamacare) as a job killer. These creative writers posted that “Obamacare will cost 3 million jobs…”. However, if anyone would have taken the time to read the CBO report, they would have found out the truth was something else indeed. Below is a quote from the Los Angeles Times February 4th, 2014:…” This is the kind of disingenuous and manipulative hyperbolic rhetoric that motivated me to create this very blog. It is still my strong desire to be a counterpoint, to anyone willing to read and listen, to the hyper-partisan rhetoric and disingenuous reporting done by certain cable media outlets. I am no ‘saint’, I will make mistakes and I am in no way shape or form perfect. Having said? My Dear Readers I will never lie to you! I will never publish something I know to be false, and I will do my level best to be honest and forthright in all I write and all I publish so long as I have the privilege of life. This week several media outlets sought to drum up support and increase their base by misquoting sections of a Congressional Budget Office report on the effects of the Affordable Care Act on the economy. They took sections out of whole sentences, and they presented these bits and bites in such a way as to misrepresent the report. They engaged in gravely disingenuous reporting and they defied your trust in their organizations. I respect you, My Dear Readers. Any media outlet that chooses to act in that fashion, does not respect you, My Dear Readers. If you are still laboring under the opinion that the ACA (a.k.a. Obamacare) is going to cost the economy 3 million jobs? You owe it to yourself to read this article and find out the truth. Thank you.

  • ·        A Little Family History : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Every three months I am required to make a long an arduous journey. That journey happen this Tuesday, and I am still feeling the pain. Gratefully my doctor improved my pain medications, and I have actually managed to sleep a night or two, in the past four. However, I am quite bereft of the physical ability it takes to produce. Produce the writing, at the quality and quantity, you My Dear Readers have become accustom.” This material was first published nearly three years ago. The subject of my mother’s place of birth, and how/where my Father and Mother met, came up in my doctor’s appointment on Tuesday. It is not often enough, that I have the opportunity to write and publish work… like this, this uplifting and enjoyable. I am working on a whole story, based on the chance meeting of my parents, and their background. I had not told my doctor that my mother was a Native American born on a reservation in New Mexico. Nor had I told Dr. Gorlick that my father met my mother, very near that reservation, while he was working on the Manhattan Project. If you have never read this, take some time and give it a read today. You really won’t regret it. As well, it will give you an idea of the other kind of writing I can accomplish… and a glimpse at another novel I hope to publish. Enjoy!

  • ·        The Death of Our President : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Today, My Dear Readers, I was confronted with the very reason that I started this blog back on March 22nd, 2010. Since the campaign that catapulted Senator Obama to become President Obama I have been troubled by voices. Voices coming from the extreme fringe of the Republican party. Elements of this radical fringe have engaged in hyperbolic rhetoric. They have created doubt about; the citizenship of President Obama, the legitimacy of his election, elements of his past, and even his (self-described) Christian religion.” I wrote this article today, and it was today that I saw the video of a woman demanding the execution of President Obama”. That she did so right in front of a sitting Republican Congressman, and he did nothing to discourage here bloodlust. As a matter of fact he actually encouraged her bloodlust and built on her hyperbolic rhetoric. THIS IS the reason that I started this blog back on March 22, 2010. EVERY AMERICAN SHOULD KNOW that it is Republicans that are sewing these seeds of hyper-partisanship, make no mistake. Further, the better President Obama does his job the more they feed this hyperbolic sickness. I have no problem with partisanship. It was designed into our system of governance for good reasons. However, hyper-partisanship is a disease that must be identified and rooted out where ever it is allowed to take hold. I simply cannot believe that a sitting Congressman encouraged an American citizen to demand that a President be executed” merely because they do not agree with his policies. That is not what it is to be an American. That is, very much, what it is to be a deeply disturbed American… I will write and stand against this kind of radical politics so long as I have life in my body and breath in my lungs. America deserves better than this disingenuous hyperbolic rhetoric being sewn into the very fabric of our nation merely for the propose of growing a hyper-partisan divide in our country.

.

That, My Dear Readers, brings us to the end of this edition of ‘A Week in Review’ and to the end of another week here at The Other Shoe. I hope that you have enjoyed reading, as much as I have enjoyed writing. I wish that I could bring you more, today. However, my hand is in terrific pain… as is my neck and all down my back and into my face. As well, I am without energy… I apologize, My Dear Readers…

.

I am still without much food in my home. I do my best, honest I really do. I am not lying about how much money I make… I do not lie about the lack of food I suffer. I sincerely apologize for even mentioning this problem. However, it was a good friend  that told me… “Danny, if you don’t tell people your needs… there is no way those that want to help, know when they CAN help.” I am asking for help. I have written in many articles how to help. One way is to click the link below to my eBay Store for The Other Shoe. Please… if you can… Please do help.
